Recently I have had no appetite and my stomach will hurt on and off. I only eat fish, and I was wondering if any other vegitarians have, or had this problem and if there is something I can do about it.

What do you mean by "other vegetarians"? If you eat fish, you are not a vegi.

True vegis who eat corectly don't have any problems, as they are getting their proteins & iron etc from other products.

I don't think your stomach ache is related to your lack of meat.

Well, for a start, you're not a vegetarian as you eat fish. Secondly, why should being a vegetarian give you stomach aches? That can be down to lots of things. Loss of appetite as well, it sounds like you may have a bug. Do you drink water? You should have at least 2 litres a day, and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. I have been veggie for 22 years and I have the fitness and stamina of a 20-something (I'm 40). My parents have never even eaten eggs let alone meat or fish and they are only now getting ailments related to growing old (they are 62 and 69).

Pleased that the doctor says that you're okay!

It's really unlikely that being veggie will be the cause of your problems. I have been veggie literally since i was about 4 and vegan for two years and i don't have any more health issues then anyone else (and for the record i am neither grossly overweight or underweight as a previous post would suggest!)

Even as a vegan you can get all the nutrients you need without even needing supplements really, you just need to ensure you eat a well balanced diet. So as long as you're eating healthily you should be okay!!! Having said that as a veggie you could have a terrible diet and be unhealthy - there is still so much junk food you can eat!

One of my daughters is a vegan.Me and my other daughter only eat fish and various types of white meat chicken, turkey, game hens etc. and none of us has ever had any trouble.Exercise always gave me an appetite. If that don't work I would get checked out by a doctor. Don't let these know nothings give you any bull about protein deficiency. There is protein in nuts, beans and all kinds of soy products. Some fish have mercury in them and should not be eaten every day

I've been a vegetarian for 19 years (I don't eat fish though) and I've never had any problems. Are you eating a proper balanced diet? If you are eating plenty fruit & veg, protein etc you should be fine. If you don't eat enough during the day it could cause you to feel queasy and hurt your stomach.

Usually Vegetarians that have the health problems are the ones that think you just stop eating meat or whatever else you aren't going to eat and that's it.

If you're sure you have covered all the vitamins that you could possibly be deficient in, then perhaps you are just getting a stomach bug/thing. . . ?

some ppl can't handle it....you could have gas as lots of veges have this tendency...try beano see if your pains go away.

eating fish will probably keep you from having too many problems, but eat eggs too (most commercial eggs aren't fertilized, so they wouldn't become chickens, so its not really like eating an animal)

my cousin had to start eating chicken 3 times a week, her doctor made her cause she got irritable bowel syndrome from not having the right nutrients. Fish and eggs should take care of that for you.

You just need to talk to your doctor. Most Vegitarians I know take some type of supplements. Your stomachs ache might not be due to your eating habits.
