Frozen or fresh?

Frozen edamame can be warmed up nicely in the microwave. Cook them about the same amount of time that you would for froze peas or frozen corn. Thus, for a bowl to serve 2 people, 3-4 minutes would be fine. Simply pour them in a serving bowl, put a lid on it, and cook (don't add water). When ready, sprinkle on salt and pepper or other seasonings of choice.

I've never tried microwaving fresh edamame, and I don't know that I would recommend it. Instead, get some water boiling in a big pot, and once it's boiling, dump the edamame in and continue boiling for 4-6 minutes. Then drain, and season.

Frozen Edamame

i usually just put the whole sealed bag into the microwave for about three minutes for frozen edamame.
don't bother with the boiling water and stuff. i've tried both ways and it's the same thing.
if the edamame are in an open bag, you could put them in a ziploc or in a plastic container with a lid.

Popcorn, baked potato, warming stuff up. Now and then, when I shop, I buy frozen stuff that is made to be cooked in the microwave. I will do that. I have been known to defrost with it a little, but hubby never thinks of that when he needs to defrost. Hubby does most of our cooking. He always used the microwave to heat up our veggies. We buy some of those "steam and serve" packets of veggies, and that oven is nice for that. Also nice to reheat leftover veggies, from the fridge. We make coffee in our 12 cup pot, then turn off the coffee maker when the coffee is done. Hubby heats his cups of coffee in the microwave all the time. I generally just drink my coffee cold. It makes no difference. It gets cold when I finish sipping at a cup here and there all the time, anyway. Turning the coffee maker off keeps from getting the coffee bitter before it's all gone. Actually, we use the microwave quite a bit every day, and yes, we would miss it if it was gone.
