My best friend's mom is in ICU...so far: Her brain is swelled, the left hemisphere dead and hemmoraging into the right side. She's becoming less responsive. She passed the first breathing test...but failed the second one (but she opened her eyes as soon as the oxygen was stopped...like she was fighting)
Is she gonna make? Please be nice... this is for real. I am going to see her tomorrow.

You never know, only God can say. Miracles can happen; I see them every day. But, usually when the hemisphere is "dead" that means irreversible brain damage and when it is hemorrhaging that means bleeding out which can lead to anoxia, or brain death from oxygen depletion, as well. She may make it, just keep praying.

Unfortuanetly, unless they can stop the bleeding in the right hemisphere, eventually the brain will "compress" itself. (the brain is in a closed cavity-no room to swell). Right now she is exhibiting "brain-stem" activity and reflexes. The brain stem is located at the base of the brain/top of the spinal cord. Eventually the swelling and pressure from the two main hemispheres will cut off blood supply to the brain stem and she will die. Some events are too catastrophic to recover from. The kindest thing would be to ensure that she is kept as comfortable as possible and that her important family members are gathered around her to support and comfort her in her final days. God bless your friend's mom, her family and you-be a shoulder for them to lean on-they'll need lots of emotional support.

If sh is in ICU she should be hopefully and i pray, okay in the long run. If she was really BAD, or worse i should say they would have maybe given her morphene injection to help with pain which in the end ends up overdosing the patients and killing thsm.

This happened to a close relative of mine.

Im very sorry, i hope you and your friends family are aboe to support each other, but i really think she has good chances of making it.

Stay positive.

Love Sarah x

im sorry to say this but i dont think so. if her brain is swelled then there cant be much to help it , especially if one part of the brain is dead and damaged , with her brain almost completely dead shes got no chance of actually living except she does have a chance to keep her body alive but in a comatose state. her eyes might have opened because she was dead for that second , when people die they look frightened , eyes open , mouth open , mid-gasp it looks like. sorry that my answer seems quite harsh but im not speaking in the state of chance here just what seems medically possible.
