30% of people with genital herpes got it from herpes simplex virus 1 (cold sores). So, if a person with cold sores gave another person oral sex, it is possible for that person to get genital herpes.
It can also be spread the other way too. If someone gave someone oral sex and that person has genital herpes it is possible to get cold sores in your mouth. But, this is more rare, and not very likely. My fiance and I both have genital herpes. He's had it about 8 months and I have had it over 5 years. We give each other oral sex (without protection) and neither of has has got cold sores from giving the other oral sex. It's pretty rare to be transmitted this way.

Cold sores are a form of Herpes they are called Herpes Simplex One and yes you can pass it to a partner through oral sex. You can also contract it from a person with Herpes Simplex Two (genital herpes). Now what you need to know is that if you have cold sores you will probably always have them now. DO NOT have oral sex with anyone when you have active cold sores and you should tell any former sex partners that you have cold sore and that they can contract Herpes from you if you have oral sex with them. As for the babies don't kiss anyone when you have open sores on your mouth especially someones baby. FYI the answerer above me is wrong you cannot cure Herpes One or Two you can only treat the symptoms.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.
