Could the virus mutate and become airborne?

I believe that its because of the protein/fat structure that is the membrane...it just can't survive the harsh conditions of air, maybe due to the fact that it needs to be nourished within a body that can support it, somewhat like like way your cells get water in and out of cells by osmosis, check the link I included. Or maybe the membrane is just to porous, and lets air right into the cell.

I be live it could mutate...I mean I'm sure its not that hard for some type of small mutation to occur at a cellular level, nature makes mistakes as well...as well as the fact that many theories believe that HIV, came from SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus).

I don't think the virus could ever mutate and become airborne... It's chemical composition is heavier than that of air and requires fluid to fluid transmission in order to pass from one person to another. That would be like wishing the common cold could only be transported thru blood transfusions... it'd be great, but it's not going to happen. I don't think HIV can live in the air, anyway.

It probably could I guess. Viruses are known to mutate pretty quickly. But for now, HIV/AIDS is a blood virus. Could you imagine the havoc it would have on the world if it was airborne? Wow, I don't even want to think of that....

yes, but that would take an extreme evolutionary step. the virus cannot survive outside of bodily fluids, it can't even survive in spit. so, it has a lot of mutating to do before it acquires the appropriate genetic information (DNA) to become an airborne virus. look up genetic mutation, the stresses required to make a virus incorporate new DNA, and the toxicity of oxygen (yes, it is extremely toxic to most living organism, including us, but that's another story). all of this keeps AIDS from being an airborne virus.

viruses come in both airborne and contact forms and it just happens the HIV Virus is not airborne. Although it does mutate so far it has not mutated in that direction.

It eventually might or might not. I don't know how long it takes to mutate from fluid-borne to airborne. Thankfully it isn't airborne since there is no cure for it yet.

as a lot as human beings are going to hate me for keeping it, it imagine it ought to no longer be this sort of robust theory to allow HIV/AIDS efficient children into public colleges. I do not ignore that they don't look monsters, nor did they opt for to have the ailment. regardless of the indisputable fact that, they could placed different children in possibility very surely. what number children bleed in college? Alot. Be it a playground coincidence, a strive against, a gymnasium coincidence, or maybe only a nosebleed. and what sort of ridicule ought to those children face if different children chanced on out about their ailment? i'm no longer keeping that children who're HIV/AIDS efficient should not be allowed in public colleges, i'm purely keeping that their figure/figure might want to heavily evaluate the total of the difficulty in the previous choosing.

Don't think so. It is a Virus that was created to stop Free Love like back in the 60's. Governments paid too many mothers WELFARE and got fed up. Also, the cure is out there.

It involves the blood, and immune system, and you have to be in physical contact (like a cut or sore)so....I don't know if it would ever be airborne.
