Yes. It is possible to spread herpes from the genital area to the mouth area and vice versa. But, since the woman has cold sores (herpes simplex virus 1) and the guy has genital herpes (herpes simplex virus 2), they really can't pass it to each other.
They are two different strains of the virus but since they already have it, it's not like they can get it again.
It would be a different story say if the guy didn't have herpes but the women did. In that case, she COULD pass it to him. 30% of genital herpes cases are from herpes simplex virus 1 (cold sores).
It's probably a good idea to use a condom (unless you are in a committed relationship). And a person should never give a person oral sex or have sexual intercourse if they are having a herpes breakout, it can cause the other person to break out and not to mention it's pretty nasty looking.

That's certainly an interesting question. There are two varieties of the herpes virus, simplexes 1 and 2. These viruses easily mutate into the other homologous form. However, lip lesions and cold sores can be caused by a variety of factors, so I'd advise for her not to give him oral sex because she could contract a virus that she doesn't already have.

First of all, oral herpes (HSV-1) and genital herpes (HSV-2) are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Then there are different strains of each. For example, one person with HSV-2 could have many painful outbreaks, while another person with HSV-2 could seldomly have outbreaks, which may be shorter and less painful. This is because even though there are 2 types of herpes, there are many more different types of types of herpes? You follow?
The best example I can really give you is how it works with HPV - there are strains that actually cause genital warts, ones that do not, and high-risk types which can result in cervical cancer.
Listen to the advice of the folks who told you NO.
And in the future, I might suggest calling a medical professional rather than relying on internet weirdos for medical advice.
And in furtherence of my response, you can give a girl an outbreak of HSV-1 by going down on her while you have a cold sore. But only 1 in 1000 people have HSV-1, so most of the outbreaks you will probably see "down there" are probably not HSV-1. I believe that HSV-1 causes less outbreaks than 2, and also notice how the commericals for Valtrex etc are geared toward people with type 2 who require constant suppressive therapy.

No! There are 13 different kinds of herpes, oral herpes can be spread to both gential and oral regions and there is no cure for any of the 13 kinds. Best bet would be condom use or a dental dam.

I got diagnosed with herpes (type 2) about 7 years ago, while I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I know loads of girls will say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone who has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/BoAGc everything improved.
Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded cafe, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This method gave me back the chance to be happy and experience true love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?
But after a friend share this video everything has changed.
