What is something that you always hope to see in a restaurant that most restaurants do not already have? It can be anything from certain kinds of food to different kinds of entertainment, etc...

A return to the small private rooms for couples who don't want distractions. Even the Japanese restaurants have gone to big open rooms full of tables and noise. It takes all the romance out of the night. Back in the 50s, private rooms for couples were much more common and you could have real privacy when eating your dinner and the restaurants didn't lose money at all...cuz it was a night out, not an assembly line mentality.

I agree that I want to see all resteraunts smoke free. It's really heartsinking when you see people dining in a really nice bit of the resteraunt like the window but when you get in you find that it's a smoking section and you have to sit in another part.
I have also only seen it in one resteraunt, but I would love to see some places to do a chilli and chocolate sauce. Less places doing versions of dishes that have been made more English and less like the dishes of the country. I especially hate that when chinese places do that. It totally ruins the dish.

I always am impressed to see real butter, good coffee and fresh cream. This is what makes a good restaurant great.

Lacking in any of these things will also make a reportedly great restaurant not so great in my book

SO glad you asked!!!!! A LOW-CARB bun for a hambuger!!!!! It is my wish that I can walk-in somewhere and order a hamburger and not have to eat it without a bun!!!! Basically anything low-carb is a plus... Most restaurants offer salads as their "low-carb" fare.... Uggggghhhhh!!!! I've been to one restaurant that offered low-carb tortillas and I was in heaven! I went all the time, just because of that, and then I moved to a different town... :( Thanks again for asking!!!!

I would like to see "adult" and "family" sections in upscale restaurants, so I don't have to put up with whining, squalling, overactive kids and their totally oblivious parents while my husband and I are trying to enjoy a relaxing meal.

I would like to watch the food prep / cooking. That way you know if there is any 'funny business' going on. Whether they cook at your table (limited menus) or glass walls to be able to view into the kitchen.
