Not if the dentist is properly cleaning his instruments - and all liscensed dentists do that. Instruments are sterilized between uses, so you are perfectly fine. Drill bits and all :-)

My understanding is that there is minimal risk---but best to consult with Planned Parenthood or with your local health department.

There was a girl a while back---Kimberly Bergalis (if I have her name spelled right)--claiming to be a virgin-- supposedly got AIDS from her dentist. She testified before congress, asking for legislation to put infected health care providers out of business.

After sher died, it turns out that her dentist had a genetically different strain of virus than her dentist. Furthermore, her b/f on his deathbed (from AIDS) came clean and testified that the two of them used anal sex as a birth control measure (she was Catholic).

The whole case was sad for her, sad for her family, and sad for health care workers who did not actually pose a risk to their patients.

HIV virus is transmitted by infected body fluids coming into contact with blood or open lesions. Anal sex, with the infected person doing the penetrating is the most dangerous--though there is a hazard with other forms of sex, as well.
