Since the possibilities of finding a cure are slim to none, it would be much more effective to make the medications that allow you to live with AIDS more available to the public. These medications already exist and their are many places where these can be found...the problem....most are in South Africa where the disease runs rampant.

At this time, there is no cure for any viral disease. Our own immune system deals with most of them quite well. The problem with AIDS is that it attacks the immune system. The way AIDS will probably be dealth with is the same way Small pox was eradicated as a health concern, vaccination. Once a workable vaccine is developed, the spread of HIV/AIDS can be halted. This won't do a whole lot for people already infected and as things stand now that's not going to change anytime soon. All that can really be done from that angle is to treat the symptoms and try to provide the best quality of life possible for as long as possible.

First off, we will find a cure....its just a matter how long long it is going to take. Secondly HIV is not an effective population control agent, as it takes years before people succumb to it. Treatment is key, with effective treatment here in North America thousands of HIV+ folks have lived for a long time with the virus and still contributed to society. What needs to happen now is universal access to those drugs, so that other countries (namely African countries) will be able to rebuild their economy and HIV is no longer a "death sentence" there, while it is merely a "chronic disease" here.

There must be a cure out there; I think AIDS as government created anyways as a mean to control population, etc... plus, there are meds to control HIV from turning into AIDS; why has Shaq been able to keep HIV and prevent AIDS all these years? He's got the MONEY to pay for the treatment.

i live in southern africa, the highest HIV + rates in the world and the governments here are so ignorant. They dont believe that its a problem or they dont have correct knowledge of its spread etc. Also how do you stop people from having unprotected sex when they are ignorant or they believe that sex is their right. That women are objects for their pleasure?
Also we dont even have the real HIV rates because the doctors are not allowed to put HIV in cause of death - yes i know HIV doesnt kill but then they could put in eg: pneumonia HIV related illness. or something. the only stats we have are pregnant women because they automatically get tested when they go for check ups etc. That figure is sitting at ovr 40% HIV + rate. SCARY. But ppl are still sleeping around. I find it difficult sometimes to have sympathy with the sick.
I think it starts with every1 looking after themselves, make sure you dont get it and then eventually it will start dying out. There are entire villages here that have been wiped out! ENTIRE villages, its like ghost towns now.

it is called a vaccination there is no known cure in the world for any viris. in fact you still have the same viris in you from when you were a little kid and got the viris. there is only treatment available to someone with a viris because once you got it there is no getting rid of it. but if a vaccination is invented then there you go it will stop the rest of the world from contracting the disease. it will not help the ppl already infected obviously.

they have a cure for aids, just like they have a cure for cancer, but the drug companies make too much money on drugs and stuff that they're never gonna release it

The best cure for AIDS is for people to GET TESTED AND STOP SPREADING IT AROUND. I mean, you have unprotected sex with someone once.. and BOOM you could have it.. and if you just keep having sex with people.. there it goes off like wildfire.. You don't sneeze on people if you have a cold...
