The Bible says, "Do not commit adultery." I find that is still the best way to defend ourselves against the deadly HIV scourge. Do you agree or do you think this is an old-fashioned view?

Every body should follow it. It is not old, it is for all times.

Abstainance is certainly the best way to protect from HIV, there's no argument there.
However, for those that are not married and are sexually active it is old-fashioned, superstitious and downright naive to tell them not to have sex outright. Condoms have a very, very low failure rate (much lower than many religion-based organizations and even schools will tell you) when used properly and present an excellent way to protect against HIV and other STDs.

I may be old fashioned, but I agree that not having sex until marriage is a good way to avoid a lot of sexual diseases, hot just HIV. Worked for my husband and me! We both waited and are glad we did. (NO type of birth control is 100% protection, and everyone who is considering sex should hear that.)

Being faithful to your spouse is not old fashioned. It is what God told us to do. It is the right thing to do. That is the number one way to protect yourself, especially when you trust your spouse, too. The reason we have HIV so badly today is because most people think they have to do it like bunnies all the time. Or worse, rats!

Well, abstinence is the best defense. Adultery is cheating on your spouse, fornication is sex before marriage. You could be faithful and your spouse could not be. So if you want to be absolutely sure, just don't have sex. Although sex is fun, you can get along with out it.

in a perfect world noone would commit adultery, but this is not a perfect world!
say you are monogamous, and your partner unknowingly isnt, then what? all you can do is practice safe sex yourself and stay away from all the high risk factors.

I agree, don't commit adultry or fornicate, yep, that's the best defense. If you don't do it, you won't get it through sexual contact. But..........there are other ways of getting it other than sex.
