HPV (The virus that causes genital warts) is not curable, but the warts themselves are treatable. There's really nothing you can do until you see your doctor. The best treatment is freezing of the warts followed by topical application of a medication cream like Aldara for several weeks. You may need two or three freezes before the warts are gone. It supposedly doesn't hurt much, more like a sharp stinging sensation, and then it's over. Grit your teeth! It's worth it, because without freezing, the warts will take 10x as long to get rid of!
It's true that recently a vaccination was announced for HPV but it is not going to help you now, since if you have it, you have it and you can't protect yourself from it any more.
Also, be sure your sexual partner(s) also sees the doctor. HPV is one virus that is not always protected against by condoms. Even if they have no signs and symptoms, it does not hurt to have a doctor evaluate them anyway. Good luck.
Edit: depending on how you respond to treatment and how many warts you have, they can take from a month to six months to fall off completely.

Genital warts is an STD, caused by a virus present in bodily fluids. You're not going to get it from a wart on your hand. You can buy over-the-counter stuff to get rid of the wart, if it's bothering you that much.

There are medications that are available by prescription for genital warts. You will need to be examined to make sure that they are not herpes instead of warts. If it is herpes, there are prescription medications available as well. Most prominently advertised is Valtrex. For genital warts, as well as herpes, there is no cure at this time. Stress can cause outbreaks to occur as well as certain foods. For example, chocolate and peanut butter are foods that can cause outbreaks. Very recently, a new medication has been made available for women to prevent HPV (human papilloma virus) which causes the genital warts. This is administered by injection, but because it is so new, it is also very expensive. Please ask your doctor about this because it may be covered by insurance. Good luck and I hope this helps.

you cant put anything on them .. the doctor has to do that .. and if it is the hpv virus you will have it the rest of your life.Genital warts must be treated by your doctor. Warts in the genital area can be removed, but there's no cure for the viral infection that causes the warts. This means that the warts may come back even after they have been removed. The following are some ways to treat warts on the genitals:
Applying liquid nitrogen--Warts on the genitals may be frozen with liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy). Your doctor may have to apply the liquid nitrogen at a number of different office visits until the warts are completely gone.
Chemical treatments--Warts on the genitals may be treated with special chemicals that dissolve the warts. Some of these chemicals, such as podophyllin (brand names: Podocon-25, Podofin) or trichloroacetic acid (brand name: Tri-Chlor), have to be applied by your doctor. Chemicals such as imiquimod cream (brand name: Aldara), podofilox solution (brand name: Condylox) or fluorouracil cream may be applied at home, according to your doctor's instructions. These treatments may have to be repeated weekly until the warts are gone.
Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP)--With this method for removing genital warts, the doctor passes a sharp instrument shaped like a loop underneath the wart, cutting the wart out of the skin.
CO2 laser surgery--For large warts in the genital area, laser surgery may be needed for complete removal.
Interferon injections--If genital warts don't go away after they've been treated with different methods, your doctor may try an interferon injection into the warts. Interferon is a chemical that our bodies make. It helps our immune system fight infection. An injection of interferon into the wart may help your body's immune system fight the virus that is causing the wart. Generally, interferon is injected into warts twice a week for up to 8 weeks, or until the warts are gone.
Genital warts are more likely to come back because there's no cure for the virus that causes them and because warts are more difficult to control in a moist environment. If warts come back, see your doctor to talk about other ways to treat them.

Whatever you do, don't try to remove the wart your self. Look on the bright side it may not even be wart. You will never know until you see your doctor. Try to stay positive. In the near further be care while having sex you may also give warts to your partner with skin contact.
