When my child was 7 months i was told that my son had a mild eject systolic heart murmur grade 1-2, i would like to know more information on this to how serious is this and will he need treatment (he's now 3 and still has it) Is there anything i should not let him do or keep an eye on, or look out for anything?

It is a common thing for a child to have a murmur and they usually out grow them.

Basically if you doctor isn't worried then you shouldn't worry.

Let your child go about life run jump play as the Doctor allows...

Murmurs in children, especially systolic ejection murmurs, are usually innocent. If he has shortness of breath, tires easily, or other symptoms that make you think something is wrong, then follow up on your instincts. Otherwise, don't sweat it.

(Grade 1 is barely audible. Grade 2 is mild. It goes up to 6.)

You might ask for an echocardiogram for your own piece of mind, but it will probably just cost a lot and annoy the child.

Have a look on this link. My son has just turned 2 and he is waiting for an ultrasound on his heart, as they are not sure if its innocent. If your still in doubt make an appointment to see your gp they should explain everything. Good luck
