When you speak of China , you are speaking about a country that is larger that the US and has a population of over 1.3 billion people. The people of China are from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. In Western China and Mongolia , Yaks, Camels, and Horses supply milk for " dairy products " including some of the best cheese in the world.
In the parts of China that most people think of as China, dairy products are difficult to find as the Chinese do not use them. When I do find butter or cheese , it is imported from New Zealand. Sometimes I would give a 100 rmb for a glass of cold milk.

No, people in China do not eat cheese. It's not part of their diet, so that's why they're all pretty skinny over there. Even when they come over here, they don't particularly prefer cheese either. However, I am Chinese and I like cheese because I was born here and grew up eating it :)

Cheese is only eaten in China when they celebrate the year
of the rat. It is a celebratory food only and is usually prepared
with Asian horseradish and a little ginseng.
It is normally served over toasted rice cakes. It is usually accompanied by a dry white wine from the Kao Sechuan region served warm.

They have cheese in the grocery stores here but the thing is, I think only a small portion of the Chinese eat them. Most of the people I see buying cheese here are usually the expats here.

The Chinese don't typically eat cheese. To them it's like rotted milk. The whole dairy concept is pretty much foreign to the Chinese kitchen, as well as most other east Asian countries.
