Eh. There's different categories of vegetarians actually. Some eat only chicken, some only eat fish, some eat nothing by animals. Personally, I think the ones eating just fish or chicken are doing it b/c they like it too much to give it up, out of habit, and they ARE the two healthiest protein choices of all meat on the market. Most would go organic too, meaning, no pesticides and hormones and all that crap was injected in the animal, which makes it even more healthy compared to what the average store is selling.

Honestly, in today's society, it's really hard to have just a strict vegan diet. Too much processed shits, organics are expensive, and pratically fuckin everything in restaraunts is made w/ animal based products (butter, milk, etc).

The term I have heard used for that is "pescatarian", which is a fish-eater, not a true vegetarian at all. There are many kinds of vegetarian lifestyles (though that's not one of them)... vegans have the strictest diet, and do not eat animals or any of their by-products. Lactos come next, eating only milk products in addition to the strict vegetarian diet. Lacto-ovos will eat dairy product and eggs. Once you get past that, you are not in the realm of the vegetarian any longer.

I find it ridiculous that someone called vegetarianism a "fad". I wonder if this person is aware that some groups, like the Buddhists, have millions of adherents and have been around for thousands of years. Still sound like a fad?

Thank you for the question.

I'm 16 years old and a vegetarian. I used to love to eat seafood, but obviously I don't anymore. I stick to the veggies, fruits, eggs and dairy...so I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. The lacto-ovo vegetarians do consume the animal products of eggs (ovo) and milk (lacto). I became a vegetarian for both to have healthier diet and for the animals, but not all vegetarians do it for the animals but for their health or all the way around. Sometimes it's hard for vegetarians to get all they need.

There are different types of vegetarians such as....

semi -vegetarians: eat chicken, fish, dairy & eggs
Pesco: fish, eggs & dairy
Pollo: chicken, dairy & eggs
Lacto-ovo: dairy & eggs
Ovo : eggs
Lacto: dairy
and vegans have a much stricter diet because they do not eat any of the above(including meat obviously & animal products). There are also those who are "pescatarians" in which eat fish.

[The Vegetarian Food Pyramid]

Breads, cereals, rice and pasta - 6 or more daily servings
Vegetables - 4 or more daily servings
Fruits - 3 or more daily servings
Legumes and other meat substitutes - 2 to 3 daily servings
Eggs (optional) - If you do eat eggs, limit to 3 to 4 yolks per week
Dairy products (optional) - Up to 3 daily servings
Fats, oils, sweets and alcohol - Go easy on these foods
Other including beans, nuts, nut butters, peas, and soy products (tofu, tempeh, veggie burgers, etc.)

Hope this helps! =)

I'm also confused about this, all I can think off is that there is a belief that fish don't feel pain when caught. Have a look at a fish just after it has been caught and you will know that this is not true, but the again some so called vegetation's eat chicken, go figure!

I would personally call them non-meat eaters, but there are several varieties of vegis.

I am a lacto-vegetarian as I still eat cheese & yoghurts (I don't like milk).

I check everything that I eat as being a true vegi is a lot more than looking for animal fat & stuff like that, you also have to look at the e-numbers & colouring. I drive people potty if they ask me a simple question like "do you want some cake?" I have to look at the ingredients before giving them an answer.

:-)

Well for me, I only eat fish.

When people ask, I will tell them that I only eat fish, and usually they will end up arguing with me about it, which is stupid, because why do they care what i eat, and then they will usually start calling me a PETA member, when I'm not. I DO NOT throw red paint on people!..lol, but I don't wear fur. Anyways to answer the question

Not all people who became vegitarian is for the animals some do it strictly for health reasons, it generally reduces cholesterol ,if, of coarse you eat corectly and excercise.(Dont go eating that cake!.lol)
But the reason I eat fish is because I like it, but I was never a big fan of red meat, so I just cut it out of my diet! Thats why I did it, but idk about other people. I hope this helped somewhat.

^_^

Actually, they cannot call themselves any kind of vegetarian if they eat fish, chicken, etc., because those are meats, no way around it. Is there a term for non-red-meat eater? That is the only thing they would be. There are only two categories of vegetarians, either vegan or ovo-lacto, that's all.

i want to be a full veg

also when you go out to fast food places and you need something quick to eat at hand (not salads). you find thatmost places dont offer vegetarian or vegan friendly foods.
and im busy so when i get a chance to eat something quick i grab a fish sandwitch i feel bad after but its either go hungry or just five seconds of food wont hurt too much if you only eat fish 2 times a year
