Most men don't know they have it (or women for that matter). I've read 75-80% of the world has HPV and only about 20some% know they have it. Also there is no for sure way for guys to find out if they have the virus or not because there is currently no test for men. Men usually find out they have HPV by developing genital warts from it. Even then, it can take months and even years sometimes to develop these symptoms. So they might have HPV, spread it around unknowingly, until they get genital warts, and then realize they have the STD.

I have had HPV for 5 years and about 6 months ago I got genital warts. It took 4 1/2 years to have genital warts show up!

If a guy knows he has HPV it is very important that he tells his partner, because it can cause cervical cancer for women. If he knows he has it and just doesn't tell the girl then he's just a jerk. I don't think guys really realize how bad HPV can be for women. I got cervical cancer when I was 17 from HPV! I have been fighting it ever since. It's not fun!

HPV does not "make" cancer. Some strains of it have been linked to cervical cancer. Apparently some strains have also been linked to penile cancer. Even though 70% of the population is infected, and decent guy will tell his partner before engaging in sexual escapades so that they may make an informed decision. Hope that helps. Take care and stay safe!

A man would never know he has HPV.

And only a nut-job male would knowingly give an STD to their partner.

But that's the kind of fast guy women usually go for... a liar and cheat.

Lot's of tattoos are a tell, like that Tommy what's his name that gave Pam Anderson hepatitis.
