The spirals ARE better... more surface area to them so they hold more CHEESE.

Yes, I use spirals a lot, especially in macaroni salad. I think the grooves hold the sauces or mayonnaise better. Plus it's easier to pick up with your fork...you just jab it with your fork until the fork can't hold anymore, then stuff it in your mouth. Yep, I like spirals. And also the multi-colored spirals.

I continually use ordinary trouble-free "elbow" macaroni... when I bake living house made contained in the oven. If I easily have a sauce made with something like Velveeta then it must be shells... For some reason, Velveeta and shells WORKS extra perfect... i do no longer understand why that is, yet Velveeta is fairly, fairly strong with ANY variety of pasta...

the spirals hold the sauce better with the pasta. That's why you see macaroni and cheese and not spaghetti and cheese. Certain pastas are made for certain sauces due to their textures and shapes.
