Before me, the last time my bf made out with someone was 3 months before we started going out. Could I still catch something from him?

Untill he gets a clear bill of health (from a clinic) it does not matter how long ago he made out with anybody. You could still catch what he caught even if he does not know that he has anything!! Both of you should go get checked together so u have a fresh start.

Yes. A person can carry and transmit HIV (the virus that causes AIDS) for months before anything would show up on a test. And there are a lot of infections you can have and not know it.
If you're old enough to be having sex, then you're old enough to have regular check-ups. Make your BF go with you and get a check up too. I think it's $50 for girls and $30 for guys, but that's a LOT cheaper than getting tested in a private clinic, it's anonymous, and you get free birth control.

Yes you can if the person have some kind of Disease you will never know just use protection because 3 month is a very short time to know a person I remember someone date someone for a year and got an STD just becareful okay and use protection or have him get check for any Diseases
