I live in n.y and there is these people called freegans, they go aroundto restaurants and grocery stores and pick out whats still fresh and then they have dinner parties does this happen were u live curious.

Is it nuts? yes for those that do it for fun but remember that there are thousands of homeless folks that do it for need! What the funseekers should be doing is convincing restaurant managers to donate the good food to food banks and homeless shelters! The freegans are just a bunch of self centered idiots!

well i seen about these people on tv, and i think its wonderful that they are saving food that otherwise would be wasted, millions of hungry children are starving and here we are throwing food away. AND not only that it's free, I'd do it to if i knew where to get that in Chicago, Second of all green ghost, they cant donate food because it is unfortunately illegal for them to do so by the government. If something happens to an homeless person they can be sued accordingly. Sad but true, I say collect the food and throw it out where homeless people leave....so at least thye have a chance to see it and use it

I read an article about them in Satya magazine. They don't seem like freaks. Grocery stores trash lots of produce that isn't even past it's expiration date, what a savings on grocery bills!

Yes, we have them here in Ohio (Columbus area) and many of them are into Vonu living, (resistance to government control of their lives and they don't own property) I just leave them alone, they do no real harm to anyone.
