♡I've lived in Japan for almost 9 years now and been eating ☆fresh, quality (key in making good sushi) sushi and sashimi quite often. I have a complete health check every year and I'm in tip top shape. So, I would say NO it hasn't been 'bad' for MY health. Eating sushi is a matter of personal choice though!(*^o^*)
"Not only is sushi full of protein and low in fat, but it also contains B-vitamins, minerals like selenium, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3's are extremely valuable, as they help keep a healthy heart. The seaweed is rich in Vitamin A, iodine, and contains other vitamins and minerals. Also most sushi (a four ounce serving) contains fewer than 200 calories, with the average piece being a mere 50 calories."

Hope this helps!♡

I used to be a sushi chef and came to find out japanese people who eat sushi all the time are probably healthier than anybody, the only thing to worry about is where to get your sushi, make sure it's a place that uses fresh fish and complies with the health department regulations.

I love sushi. As long as it's fresh, then you're okay. The FDA warns of sushi because of the potential mercury levels in raw fish. However, not all sushi is raw. Sushi is just the way the food is prepared, not meaning that its raw. They have some delicious and healthy sushi meals that are cooked.

Sushi is very healthy--the Japanese nation is one of the healthiest and its people some of the longest-living in the world.

However, young children should not eat sushi as they may not have a strong enough immune system yet. (just to be on the safe side.) However, for adults, as long as the sushi is fresh, it's a very great and healthy source of omega-3 fats and protein.

The incidence of stomach cancer in Japan is higher than the average. This has been attributed to consumption of raw food. From that standpoint, I would say raw foods (not just fish), can be detrimental if not practiced conservatively. In moderation, it has health benefits.

The only negative aspect would be the kind of fish you are eating and the levels of mercury in that fish..... raw or cooked. The bigger the fish the higher levels of mercury. Tuna, sword, etc. Eating to much would be the problem.

It could be b/c you don't know what type of water that fish came out of. The water could've been contaminated or polluted. All around I think raw fish is bad for anyone's health period.

In my opinion, no. The orientals have been eating sushi for YEARS, and according to statistics, they seem to be the healthiest people on the planet.

Whatever meat can be eaten raw if it's fresh. They eat raw horse and even whale (both seriously yummy by the way) in Japan with no bad effects.
