Can a case of walking pnemonia cause asthma? About two years ago I had walking pneumonia that took forever to go away. Before this I never had any symptoms of asthma, but now I do. Is it possible that the pneumonia could have caused me to have asthma?

It's unlikely.

Adult onset asthma can be caused by many things, and it is possible that the stress of the pneumonia brought out an underlying condition that you hadn't noticed before. Sooner or later you would have developed asthma symptoms anyway.

Untreated pneumonia can lead to permanent lung tissue/airway damage. It's typically referred to as "chronic bronchitis" though, not asthma. Patients will exhibit the same sort of airway constriction, poor gas exchange, and even CO2 retention that asthmatics exhibit, and it is treated just about the same, depending on severity of symptoms.

NO, however you can get reactive airway disease for a period of time after such infection. I have had it before and had to be on inhalers of and on.
