Eggs in there shells will last over one month in the fridge so long as the shells are not cracked! As to why they don't sell them it is probably more expensive to raise duck than chickens. Me I'd like to see ostrich eggs! 1 and it's enough for a whole family sized omelet.

Providing you know when the egg was laid and it is fresh when you get it you are probably safe keeping them up to a month in the fridge. As far as sale is concerned they go "out of date" after 1 week, as opposed to 3 weeks for chicken eggs. Ducks do not lay eggs in nest boxes, and are liable to leave them wherever they like, so it is not possible to guarantee that the eggs have been in a bacteriologically "safe" environment. Ducks kept for egg laying purposes are not amenable to intensive rearing, making them probably uneconomic for supermarkets to stock duck eggs. You should be able to obtain them reasonably easily from a wholefood shop, or farm supply shop.

Tesco sell them - in mine they are always in the reduced section because no one buys them. And big Sainsburys too. They last forever - weeks past the use-by date. If you're worried about the freshness, drop them (well maybe drop is a bit strong - lower carefully would be better) into a jug with water and if they float they're off.
