How about a wine party? Everyone invited brings a bottle of wine and you have a wine tasting with cheeses, crackers, and other appetizers. FUN!

What kind of party are you throwing?? For adults? Kids? Teens??
For adults you can use almost anything for a theme! We've had black and white night where everyone had to dress in either all black or all white. We've done Halloween in August! That's always interesting! Bikini night... but that's not such a good idea if the guys aren't in the best of shape!! I've done space themes where we eat astronaut food and tang. Survival night is always fun too! Set up tents in your back yard and build a fire. Play survivor type games with everyone, and for dinner serve MRE's from your local Army Surplus store! You can pretty much make a party out of anything you think of!! Taste of the world, taste of the country... where people bring their favorite dish from either around the world or the country. Wow... I can go on forever! Hope it helps. However, if the party is for a kid or teen or something else, let us know and I'll update my answer!

If you are having an adult party, a Second Childhood party is a ton of fun. Have childish games like Candyland and Crazy Eights and Twister (although we seniors risk life and limb to plat Twister!). Jacks and jump ropes and hula hoops and hopscotch are fun too, especially with silly prizes.
Serve "kid" foods. One of these we went to had all the beverages served in baby bottles! Propellor beanies were the favors for everyone.
Another adult theme party was a Bad WIne Tasting. Every guest or couple was to bring a bottle of wine with the prize categories in mind. The were best tasting, worst tasting, cheapest, most sediment, most appealing to a wino, and most likely to make you upchuck.
Every bottle was wrapped in aluminum foil to hide it and we had ballots for the different categories, crackers and "spit buckets," which were a blessing for some of the choices. "Most sediment " was one we didn't taste and was winner by acclamation. They'd put about three inches of sand in the bottom of the bottle and placed a tiny umbrella and beach chair on it then filled it withsome cheap white wine tinted blue.
For children, especially young ones, a great party is one with many, many boxes of different sizes in a yard or large room. A few props can be added like hats or flashlights or simple art materials. At one of these, the kids built a box train with all kinds of cars and took turns being the engineer holding the flashlight in the front "engine" care.
A hospital party was fun for kids, too. Buy tons of cheap bandaids (dollar stores are great) and make slings and roller bandages from old sheets or fabrics as well. Inexpensive "stethoscopes" and such are easy to find, but a trip to a hospital supply store for a box or two of rubber gloves, hair covers, and masks really makes it. Freeze waterfilled gloves for surgeon's hands to float in the punch. If they are old enough to count and use a watch, kids love to be taught how to count a pulse.
And for adults or kids, doing improv is a great theme. Have a box of costume and prop items and a stack of cards with situations and put on a play!

Have all of your guests bring an African wine that they'd like everyone to share. Provide lots of cheese, fruits, crackers and French bread. Have everyone dress for a "Safari" to go with the adventure of the night. Play jungle music and have a "picnic" on the grass with your friends on the "savannah" and enjoy.

Hector,
why don't you try, Come as an animal theme.
your guest could adopt the persona of the animal they come as.
if you got enough friends they could come in groups of the same , like a pride of lions or Buffalo an hunt each other.
