Wow, good question. I think the rotten apples have really put a bad reputation on very one else. For example, I am about to become a teacher and every one is making jokes, "I hope you don't become another Mary K and sleep with your students." In your case it is people who abuse their foster kids. I think that the only way to solve this problem would to be make it tougher to be a foster parent. The only problem with this though is it might discourage the good foster parents also. Society is going to stereotype no matter what. You can have 99 good foster parents and 1 bad one and they will think that all foster parents are like the bad one. I am sorry I really could not answer your question, but I would like to thank you for being a foster parent.

i think the media may have encouraged this negative image with all the movies they show and of course some people think anyone who is getting money out of something is just doing it for the money, but i believe there are many loving, caring foster parents who have a genuine love and concern.I really don't know how to change these perceptions on a large scale but just continue to be a positive foster parent role model and people will take notice and you know how they talk.

I think it's because the only time you hear about them is when they have done something wrong.
This makes the GREAT foster parents look bad.
I wish I knew how to change this, but the only way
I could think of would be to make it known on tv,
or in a newpaper. This way the world could see
that most foster parent's are caring, loving people.
Hope this helps & take care

I think it is due to the media for incessant news about crimes comitted by foster parents on their foster children. The very news that sell their tabloid newspapers. It is creating a very bad impression on the society.
I would appreciate it for once that the media would feature the sincerity and kindheartedness of this individuals who would provide a better future for these unfortunate children.

Just keep going. Just because a few bad apples spoiled the bunch doesn't mean they are all bad. It's just unfortunate that some do it only for the money
