I have a few friends in the armed forces that have already been deployed to South Korea. So I think it is just a matter of time . Do you know of other that have been deployed to a staging area in South Korea ?

America has had a military presence in S Korea since the "police action ended." My brother was deployed there in the late 70's.

Ready for a military conflict with the NoKor Army...yes. USA armour, air, space and sea power can concievably defeat their forces provided they do not change tactics from old communist-mass banzai charges to better ones. Ready for an occupation and possible escalation with China...that is a different question all together. Unless the USA is willing to reintroduce the draft, produce more planes, tanks and ships than the current rate and/or reduce the commitments in Iraq, the second part of the war will be a lot harder.

I had heard rumors from a couple friends regarding South and North Korea. Honestly, I think the United States was caught with their pants down. Seriously, we have an overextended military and we have a very real threat. We're over in Iraq and Afghanistan shooting at ghosts while North Korea is preparing missiles that can reach the US. Hmmm.....

United States military has been part of South Korea since the "Korean Conflict" of the 1950's.
My brother was stationed there with the Air Force in the 70's and my niece was stationed there with the Army in the late 80's.
Hopefully, things will not escalate.
