I agree with you! H.P is the greatest. Its just one of those things where people are mad cos they never thought of it first, or because they don't want to believe. But i bet you as soon as the pope moves onto something else being all evil, J.Ks sales will go even higher

The stories are fiction, of course. But many Christians feel the books and movies glamorize witchcraft which the Bible frowns upon.

Like you, I love the Harry Potter series. And yes, it does make on want to go to Hogwarts. I don't see it as anything more than entertainment like the movie of the "Da Vinci Code" was. Unfortunately, some people just get too uptight about fiction.

Harry Potter is NOT evil. Some people just can't handle the utter excitement they would have by reading Harry Potter. They are afraid that such an excellent book/ movie could cause them to have a seizure. Therefore they see Harry as evil because he might cause them to become over excited and happy and have a aseizure!!! LOL

Our friend J T is correct (as always) but he doesn't go quite far enough.

It's true that the mindset of the typical Christian fundamentalist is exactly as described. However, these beliefs are in fact shared by all Christians; the only difference is that the fundamentalists have the nerve to say so outright, while the "moderate" Christians will need you to argue with them for awhile until they admit that yes, their beliefs do require them to support the actual destruction of all unbelievers.

if you think HP is evil you have been living in a cave
the books and the movies have both broke records
the series get children to read (some adults too)
now pick up a Harry Potter book and read

not all Christians r against it , only close minded ppl , it's just a story for kids .
i love harry potter n i was reading it 10 min ago , but dnt mix between miracles n wizard , do not mix between god n witches , god makes miracles , good things but real witches do bad things with satan's power but harry potter isn't evil , he is brave n kind , he is a hero , Christians r against witches cz they do these strange things with Satan's power they deal with him so they do very bad things but harry isn't that way , it's just a story for kids , but some ppl cant see the difference between harry the good witch the kids ' hero n the real witches in real life , but churches rn't against harry potter or they will say dnt buy it , but churches knw this difference between the imagination of a great hero n real life .
so church n Christianity aren't against harry , they against the black magic done by real witches but some close minded ppl dnt realize the difference .
but god is different than real witches , god do good things witches do bad things n u dnt mix things .
i am a christian

You say you are an atheist. Do you understand the Christian mindset?

If not, let me summarize it for you:

All humans are born wicked & evil.

Satan is alive & well and constantly stalking humans trying to get them to (name your favorite perversion or crime).

The only way to avoid being tempted by Satan to commit (the favorite perversion or crime) is to pray to Jesus.

And, anyone who is not a Christian is operating under the direct control of Satan.

There are no exceptions.

And anything that does not promote Christianity is Satan's way of trying to influence Christians away from their protection.

Christians look for Satan everywhere they go, especially in other people's actions & entertainmant.

That may sound silly to non-Christians, but it is the overall doctrine followed by all Christian fundamentalists and many who are marginally fundamentalists.

It promotes whichcraft, devination which we are against in a so-called innocent way- NOT.
There is a huge increase in the interest of wicca, whichcraft, devil worship, Satanism.

Taking smoking for instance some can stay with cigarettes(which is bad enough) but some people want to try something more i.e ganja, ecstacy, heroin, crack, coke,

These are devilish systems set-up to draw people into negative entrapments- because of curiosity, boredem, lack of self esteem etc.

Whereas God promotes inner healing, love, joy, peace, prosperity, charity and more

Those who think Harry Potter and WIccans are evil need their head examined and also need to check history. It's not pagans/witches that have been running around all over the earth killing others in 'god's' name.

the people who attempt to ban harry potter ignore the fact taht its obviously fantasy.

ive become a full pledged "potterhead" but on the other hand my cousins are forbid to watch the movies or read the books. why? because their parents are ignorant are oblivious to the message that jkr attempts to spread.
