Because kids show all their sides to their parents, some of which aren't nice. Others only see them for short periods, and the kids aren't always open with them

Some parents unconsciously live vicariously through their kids. These parents are as critical with their kids as they are with themselves, even if they don't show it. If these parents didn't grow up with acceptance and praise, they don't have a model to emulate with their own kids. Histories can repeat.

Sometimes I find some my son's flaws extraordinary because they make him who he is. Like his freckles, or his one crooked tooth. No one has a smile like he does and it always brightens my day when he smiles.
