Prior to the 1962-63 tour, the painting was assessed for insurance purposes at $100 million. According to the Guinness Book of Records, this makes the Mona Lisa the most valuable painting ever insured. As an expensive painting, it has only recently been surpassed (in terms of actual dollar price) by Gustav Klimt 's Adele Bloch-Bauer I, which was sold for $135 Million (£73 million) on 19 June 2006. Although this figure is greater than that which the Mona Lisa was insured for, the comparison is not entirely valid as it does not account for the change in prices due to inflation -- $100 million in 1962 is approximately $645 million in 2005 when adjusted for inflation using the US Consumer Price Index

Just so every body knows the Mona Lisa is really expensive no one can buy because it is in France being displayed for public use only so bill gates can not buy the Mona Lisa. So no one in the world can buy it

She is most desirable women in Erth :) She representing ''France'' this like Mona Lisa = France and painted by Lanardo one of most secretive person in earth and Mona Lisa his hardest job ever make its take years to finish. Ignore $700m I personally think If France will sell today in 2014 and this highly unlikely it's will cost around £2-4 billion and that price just good will price.

It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Just look at the highest offer smoeone has made on it.
If there is no offer made, it is worth NOTHING .... there is no built in value of these paintings.
Your 14 bedroom mansion in Malibu is worth 20million dollars ONLY and ONLY because there is someone out there willign to pay that much. If the only offer on your Malibu mansion is for a $1 .. single dollar, then that's waht it is worth.
