It depends on how you want to be perceived. The BMW is by far the most refined choice, the styling is a lot more distinctive and you will stand out from the crowd. Personally I think the front end of the 7 series is rather bog eyed and dare i say....ugly. If it were me i would defiantly go for the Audi.

Both are really good cars. Puritist would say that the Bm is better as it is rear wheel drive. The A8 has analuminium body so feels lighter.

The biggest issue with both these is the massive depreciation they suffer. In this market Im afraid the Mercedes is king. E-class or above. Much more prestige and you wont dump a fortune when you want to sell it in 3 years time.

The 7 series can be better specified...and has a better engine (all at lot of extra cost). But the A8 looks better & drives better. But more importantly it is less cliched than 'the BMW driver'.

both autos are excellent when they run. Both cause road problems. I know. I had an Audi ad it was in the shop every month and I managed to hold on to it for four years.....only because they gave me a loaner at no charge which turned out to be a Lincoln. Whenever I went on trip with the Audi I carried with me a complete repair kit which I couldn't use because the car was so complicated.

Go for an Audi diesel, BMWs are bad for pulleys falling off and thermostat failures and Audi petrol engines are bad for coil failures and misfiring. I see this every day - Vehicle recovery technician!!!
