I don't have anything against atheists. I say to each their own. Sometimes I read questions on here from atheists (or those who have different beliefs than myself) and it sound like a personal attack on my religion. I can't stand to be ridiculed about my beliefs, but you sound like a nice person who, like you said, can respect someone for having different beliefs. It's refreshing not to be considered crazy or brainwashed because I believe in God. I would love to hear a sensible answer about the belief system of atheists, but on Yahoo Answers, they are few and far between!

I'm afraid I won't give you the answer you are looking for, but I will give you my answer.

"This question is not applicable."

I have nothing against people of other belief structures. My friends represent a large spectrum of beliefs spanning from Muslim to Roman Pagan. What I do not like is when people attempt to demean me, or embarrass me out of my beliefs through history channel specials, or half baked theories on ... whatever.
Are you ever like that? That may explain why there is friction there if so.

As for a few people who do 'hate' another person over a difference in ANYTHING, well there are bad eggs in every basket now aren't there?

If a someone actually reads the bible to see how Jesus treats others they will find that while he was sometimes incredibly blunt, he was also a very accomplished diplomat at other times.

I could go on farther, but this seems like a decent stopping point. Hope it helped.

I don't hate you. Some people have a hard time realizing where people are in their life right now and all the stuff that led them there. Sometimes you just are given something sooooo good that you want others to have the same thing. But you don't know how to reveal it to them or accept the fact that maybe they don't want it.
not to offend you or anyone else, but christians:
you are called to plant, water, and fertilize the seeds. God harvests. Be gentle in your responses and remember that not everyone is willing to accept the Gospel. Yet.
To those easily offended by religous stuff: take it for what it is. Some of you choose to navigate to a religous forum and then complain that people are talking about... religion. It's my personal opinion that you are somewhat interested/curious. So I'm gonna say something. If you don't like it. A no thanks will do.

I don't hate atheists. Some christians are to hard on ppl. They give a bad name to the rest of us. Also maybe some who you think hate you think they are helping you. Think about this......if a christian truly believes in the bible then they would believe you are in a lot of trouble. How can they not tell you? If they truly believe you're going to hell how can they just stand by and let it happen? I think christianity is real. There's always that little chance I could be wrong. I'm only human. But if I'm wrong, if we die and we go nowhere what did it hurt me to believe in God and heaven? I will have lived a very happy life. But if you're wrong and there is a heaven and a hell then you're going to be very sorry. So in answer we don't think there's anything wrong with you but with your beliefs. And if we honestly believe what we say we do it would be the worst thing in the world not to warn you.

i'm guessing that much of the 'hate' you sense is in your imagination-i don't have anything against atheists-it may sound like a cliche, but my absolute best friend in the entire world (a 30 yr friendship) is an atheist-i love her to death-she doesn't mind that i pray for her, because she knows that my prayers for her are sincere and loving-i wish only good things for her-maybe if you consider for a moment the motivation you would understand that when a Christian prays for you it is not because they think you're wicked and somehow below them-it's because they believe that God DOES exist, that there IS a heaven and a hell, that Christ is 'the way, the truth, and the life', and they care about you enough that they want you to share and enjoy the new life they have found thru Christ...it's out of love, not disrespect...but it's up to you to accept or reject...

Awhile back, I liked atheists much more than Buddhists.

But, lately, I've seen on the web many loud, vulgar, and quite intolerant atheists who have nothing to do but to skewer religion, especially Christianity. That kind of turned me off from the scene of atheists.

However, I know people who were atheists who are very close to me, and throughout their lives, everything was a struggle. Once they found God, they found a spiritual calm about things.

I think a lot of atheists tend to be young and supposedly far from death. Death changes that most of the time.

That's why I think of atheists as Christians in waiting or future Christians.

Getting back to point, I don't have much against the atheists I know, but I feel sorry for them. They're living lives challenging religions, and without a blanket to support them spiritually.

Good luck with your diplomacies.

To every man there opens a highway and a low, and every man decides which way his soul shall go. You are of the opinion that people hate you, in the christian belief system, there is no room for hate. No one has the right to judge your beliefs, my father was an atheist and as a child I did not understand him. I asked him once and his reply was "you believe in that fellow on the cross?" I was only a teenager at the time and was outraged at his comments, I said "of course I do" he smiled and said to me "you know what I do when I am in the garden? I talk to God."
So my friend, in the end it is your life, your path your decision!

Hi,
I don't think Christians hate you - by definition Christians should practice love not hate. But I understand how you must feel. un-fortunately when some professed christians get excited about their beliefs they do appear to be almost "hateful" in their approach. I think this is because they really believe so passionately that what they know about Christ and the Bible is true.
I myself, call myself a christian but I try to remain calm when talking about my beliefs, and not be tempted to downgrade people with other beliefs.
But I do have to say that for me personally, I find it quite mystifying that atheists cannot concede that there could be a creator of our universe, our beautiful planet, and ourselves, complete with brains that are like supercomputers and with our ability to feel emotions, create, and communicate.
If you do believe in the theory of evolution - was it necessary for us to evolve with the ability to love, cry, hate, think, dream etc? Or to survive, reproduce and evolve? Was it necessary for all food-producing plants to ensure their fruits bore such diversifying colurs, flavours and odours in order for them to sustain other living creatures? There are so many questions like this that I am surprised that atheists don't think it is possible that there was an intelligent being who created all things.
I don't know whether you have ever studied the Bible or not, before reaching your belief, but I have studied it closely and am always amazed at its relevance for all ages, and the proof, scientific, archealogical and historical that exists to back up its claims.
But I am more than willing to hear what you have to say about your beliefs and feel that all christians should also do the same if they want to be true disciples of Christ who's golden rule was one of love for all people.

Christians go by the law of God which is love for God and love for our neighbor, (even love your enemy). So maybe your question should be are those who speak or answer with hatred really Christian? Remember though, answers that disagree with you even strongly disagree are not hatred just a different point of view. Many seen to think if you answer contrary to their point of view or belief that you hate. This is of course not true.
