This is an ancient text, society has progressed beyond this kind of savagery, The church should not be part of the state.

I believe that in a modern culture there is no need for religion, but I know a lot of people oput there still feel they need it.

NO..........

The last time I looked, God supposedly gave Moses 10 Commandments..... so how did we end up with books full of laws?

I would say that a lot of these laws was instituted by men and is part of the reason why our lord Jesus Christ had to come and rescue us... rescue us from the curses of the priests.

Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

In the verse above you will see where Christ scolds the Pharisees for being very technical in making sure that the smallest minuet things are in accordance with the law but they miss the most important things that require judgment and they also missed "the love of God".
They were more interested in punishing the people of God instead of showing the great mercies of God..... does this seem familiar by any chance?

So in all... if the letter of law was ment to be served and was from God, than Christ would not have been able to fight against the leaders (priests) of the jewish church or the high priests during the time he was spreading his gospel.

No... I don't think anyone should be killed for not listening to priests. They are human just like you and I and have human impulses too. And besides, in my opinion not all of the laws came from God as we were led to believe.

I hope you find what you are searching for. Peace be with you friend.

Every one is already being put to Death... its just a matter of time.. The question is how may times you want to Die ??
The more you continue in this Material existence .. one after another you will keep taking Birth and you will again be put to death..
Bhagavad Gita states that to endeavor for Eternal life in kingdom of God is that which stops all death. By following Teachings of Great Sages you will be able to achieve that eternal life ...
Till then every body will be put to death.... Either by terrorist, or diseases, or old-age, or murdered in the womb by ones own mother ... that is a different thing , but putting to Death is there ...

So i feel this is how this statement must be understood.. It does not mean you go about Killing people... Killing of the Evil in us is required .. Simply killing of the Body will do no good ...

The key word here is "represents" the Lord....
How often religious leaders have interpreted the wisdom in the Bible to suit their own specific religious beliefs...
also is this verse speaking of death of the human form or of the spirit ?
Not to ignore ...but to think in a different aspect

* here is one example of men changing scripture:
No where is it written in the Bible that an infant is to be
christened with drops of holy water. The person is to be an infant in Christ...to be baptized in,I believe,in a large body of water,as with John the "Baptist" to be cleansed of their sins and re-born in Christ (infant) I don't know, perhaps the faiths that do drops of holy water don't like to be too messy???

It is the difference between Israelite civil law, which was enforced only on Israelites, and the new law under Christ. Those things which were specifically part of the Israelite civil law were never meant to regulate non-Israelites. Paul and Peter both speak of this in their debate about what customs and laws the gentiles ought to adhere to.

So it is not that we are picking and choosing which laws to follow, but that some of these choices have already been made for us.

It is pure stupidity. It comes from a book rather loosely composed by people who were considered crazy, thus it is ridiculous to believe any such fictional work. That goes for the talmud, koran and bible.

It is not practiced now.
