Closing the curtain between the different class sections on the airlines is done for a couple of reasons. It keeps people in coach from becoming anxious/upset that they're got a lower number of flight attendants serving them (people get pretty angry if it takes 45 minutes for the drinks trolley to reach them and they see 2 flight attendants pampering the 4 rows of passengers in first or business class). It also discourages coach class passengers from coming forward and using the first class or business class lavatories. It also keeps people in the rear-ward sections from grumbling about having to pay for the movies when the business or first class sections show them for free. All in all, it's to keep the coach passengers out of the more "elite" sections and keep complaining to a minimum.

See... The Business Class takes it in the shorts again. Now they're blinding them before feeding them! When is the insanity going to stop?
