Let me just say that that is a beautiful photo... oh yeah you were asking about wasps.......... Well, wasps will typically die during the winter. Well the workers do anyways in social wasps. The queen will usually survive the winter on stored food, and there are usually a store of eggs waiting to emerge as larvae the following spring. They will pupate and emerge as workers, to serve the exhausted queen for the entire year, and then the cycle starts all over again. Lookin good! thanks for the question!

They spend the fall recuperating from a summer of multiple stinging. Winter is the Wasp equivalent of Woodstock - they steal some illicit honey from the local bumblebee hives and party, mating like their lives depend on it. Spring is birthing and college season. Last year's wasps instruct the new generation in how to be ruthless, single-minded stinging machines, and the new young studs only graduate when they turn and sting their tutors to death. Then off they go again into their Summer of Madness...

hibernation.....the young ones are in the larvae and puppa (check the spell plz)...parents wasps die i guess..

I think they have winter homes in Florida. either that, or they go skiing in Aspen.

I think they die when it gets cold. I'm not sure on that though.
