I mean its all fear-based, total nonsense.

It makes me cringe, too. Sensible people discard childish ideas like gods, fairies, Santa Claus and so on when they grow up, but the process goes wrong in some people, and they still hang on to them into adulthood. I think education is the answer.

Which religious freaks are you addressing? The Eastern ones or the Western ones? Those who die as martyrs for Allah or those who die as martyrs as Christians? Or those who die as martyrs for Mohammed? Etc.Etc.Etc... Religious freaks like the bead counters, meditators or string wearers? Or the religious freaks like the ones who believe in a Resurrected Messiah or coming Messiah? There are so many religions in the world, and so many of their followers who could be labeled as freaks it's hard to know who you are talking about unless you are specific. Maybe you mean the non-religious freaks who spread their own type of beliefs to not believe in a Higher Power or Supreme entity. They too have their own "fear-based" pseudo religion, with their own way of recruiting new members. If you don't believe like the unbelievers, then you are ridiculed and criticized for being a religious freak. Hmmm....looks like we just came full circle. It's all fear based.

I believe in God. But I dont fear him. So I dont get what you are asking. Is it nonsense to spend your life believeing in something better? Or is it nonsense to spend your life believing that when you die that is it, and everything you did here means nothing?

I choose faith. I dont have all the answers, nobody does. And to think the the 6 billion people on planet earth who believe in a higher power are all wrong is a pretty bold statement. You sir are in the minority, big time. Maybe it is not us who believe in nonsense, but maybe believing in nothing is truly nonsense.

Fear?? The FACT that Jesus Christ Is Lord and Son Of The Living God is indeed a fearful thing for the devil who possesses you. Poor illiterate little boy, Get a Bible. Start reading John, Acts , Romans then get back with me .. You are too full of hate now to have reasonable discussions..

Unless, by fear based you mean love based. Listen, we could get in a huge discussion here, but basically, God wants you to follow Him because you LOVE HIM. However, if you don't, then He has to motivate you some other way, by saying, don't do this and BAM, this will happen and you won't be blessed like Bob over there.....etc. I Agree with you, following a religion or God all your life because of fear is not correct. Learning to love God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and following His teachings because you love Him, that's a joy.

TV-priest, Moon etc certainly don't believe what they're preaching. There motive is obvious: money and/or power.

But those Jehova guys that knock your door, give you some leaflets and a long preach and ask for a few cents for their work - I think they've actually been indoctrinated so badly that they believe it. Otherwise I can't explain their behavior.

no, they don't really believe. you can see it in their tears when a loved one of theirs dies. would someone who believes in eternal life really ever be sad about death. they use the excuse that they miss the person, but i've seen that sort of tears. these people are surrounded by darkness. that's also why they constantly need to preach. they need approval and reassurance from others because they have such a hard time swallowing that pill.

It's no different from Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Why believe? Well, you've seen those Christmas specials on tv, year after year after year. You don't believe? No #*&%ing presents for you!

I think your question reveals an interest in religion. Remember this important question because I believe that someday you may find out the answer on your own!

They do believe... because they're nuts...nuts, I tell ya'!

Sometimes, I really do feel sorry for them.
They go through life with significant dysfunctions of the mind...believing in all sorts of wacky stuff, rather than in the facts that empiricism and logic provide.

:-(
