Check out this Forum thread. The people in this thread had the same problem as you. The little red spiders may in fact be mites.
They discuss nontoxic and some toxic ways to get rid the little buggers.

These are almost certainly Red Spider Mite, they love warm dry places and are a common greenhouse pest. They will hibernate by the end of august, probably close to where they are now.
There are various control measures to employ your local garden centre will have something to put on them.
Biological controls (i.e. introducing a natural predator) would probably be a waste of time if they are n ot in a confined area such as a greenhouse.
I sometimes get spider mite in my chicken house, for this I have a lime based powder that is simply dusted over the inside of the shed, the process needs to be repeated after about 3 weeks as, like most pesticides, it is only effective against the adult forms, from egg to Nyphal stage to adult takes about 22 days.
Also, make sure they have no easy way in, check the pointing on the patio and house walls, if there are cracks in it they will be in there! Get everything repointed!
Another possible control is to pour boiling hot water down the cracks.(My parents used to do this to kill off ants although Im not sure how effective it would be.)
Or try a solution of Jayes fluid, the little blighters won`t like that!

Are they coming in via the patio doors? If so, try sticking, to the side of the doorstep, some of that double sided sticky tape you get from garden centres to stop slugs getting into pots. They won't be able to walk over it.
As for the patio, you can buy natural predators from various garden centres and websites. Have a look at http://www.growell.co.uk/p/0413/Natural_Predators_Red_Spider_Mites_.html These get rid of them, and you're not spraying nasty chemicals anywhere near your house.

There are any number of chemical sprays available in garden centres. Red spider mite does not like damp or wet so a simple answer would be to keep your pation and surrounding area wet.
It won't get rid of them entirely but it will keep them down.
As soon as it gets cold they will disappear.

Hi i am assistant manager in hygien in industry. 1) there is not home chemcal against spider but only indutrial ones. Only professional can use them cause they are very toxic. 2) don't kill all spiders at home, keep some of them cause they are natural ennemies of insect. Even if spiders look awfull, they are very usefull in our house

Raid works very well, but youll want to get enough to cover your patio, they will stay away. If you dont have any, use bleach. I suggest spraying it lightly from a spray bottle!
