Just walk out of boredom into happiness and fun. Boredom is how your posture is and what you are focusing on. Change your motion to change your emotion. (MOTION = EMOTION)., what I mean change your body posture and smile, concentrate at time you most happy and having fun. Fake it till you make it.

Good Luck!

Rut. that word isn't used enough anymore. Take up some hobbies. Iam also bored but i know its my own doing. Im looking for a job but im too job picky so thats making it hard, I decided not to go to summer school so i will probably graduate later than i had hoped. and i don't know where my life is going or what kind of career i would like to pursue... the major i chose was just off the top of my head and i hate it when people ask what im majoring in cause it reminds me of how lost i am. Be bored, be in a Rut but never be fed up with life because it can change in an instant for better or for worse. Good Luck!

Do something that is totally out of character for you. Take a trip to someplace that yesterday would have been totally ludicrous for you. If you are straight, go to a gay bar and let some sexy young thing pick you up. Skydiving, hang gliding, bungee jumping. Take flying lessons. It sounds like you have gotten into a routine. Just do anything that you have wanted to do for a long time. I was in a rut too and finally figured out that it was because I was too afraid to try some of the things that I had only dreamed of. NO MORE.

I feel the first thing you need to do is to stop generalising- you need to work out exactly what part of your life you are fed up with. This may not be an easy question to answer, so I would suggest spending time with a counsellor to work through this may be beneficial. You may be surprised at the answers this gives you. Once you have reached a conclusion, then the hardest thing will be to act upon it. Being fed up may not make you happy, but it is still a comfort zone, and one it is scary to break out of. To live an authentic and full llife requires us to accept the anxiety change brings, so how do you feel about taking a chance?

I've been in a rut for nearly two years now and haven't been able to come up with anything. I guess you could just try and something really different to what you usually do, you know break the cycle and all that. If you get an good advice let me know pls.

It sounds to me as if you could be suffering from a depressive illness. If you have ceased to feel normal emotions such as pleasure then you may need psychiatric help. I suggest you ask for a referral to mental health services to discuss your situation. A short course of an anti depressant may just lift your mood enough to enable you to feel pleasure again.
In the mean time just take it easy, this could be your body's way of telling you to slow down. Take bubble baths, go for country walks, read a favourite book, watch a movie, start with simple things. Don't spend money on big things until you are ready to appreciate them. You need to find out why you feel like this first.Don't know if this will help as i am no expert however it worked for me.
Good Luck

So many things you could do!
Take up salsa
Learn a new language
Learn a new skill, such as pottery or car mechanics
Call your friends and arrange a sleepover / day out
Dye your hair a different colour or get a complete makeover and change your look
Get a pet
Travel, even if its just to the nearest town, and act like a tourist for the day

...
Hope these have given you some ideas!! Have fun :O)

I know how hard it can be. Decide what you want. Do you know lots of people but don't go out much? Or have you drifted away from friends abit over the last few years and want to make new ones. Do you want to learn something/try something new?

Decide what you like, do you want to eat out more, see bands or learn a language? Then it's just a case of going for it. Try ringing up a friend that you haven't spoken to for ages, and going out for a drink. Just doing one of these things will give you a boost, and the encouragement you need to move forward.

If you really mean that, go back to school and train for something you would really like to do, then you can get out of that rut and be happy

Human beings were meant to express themselves through the arts, which the government, schools, and our own families have done a terrible job of promoting. You see, art is the highest form of expression that brings fullfillment, purpose, and pleasure to our lives. There is always some art that is inherent in us whether it be music, singing, composing, writing, dance, poetry, sculpture, painting, etc. Without art, our soul becomes stagnant, and we start dying a slow death. Find out what your art is. I'm a musician, poor but happy. And I'll die happy.
