Taiwan should reclaim China by force. The U.S. needs to stop ***** footing around the Taiwan issue and stand up to China. We're supporting a communist regime and not a democracy.

I think China should leave Taiwan alone.
The only time Chine should reclaim Taiwan is if the Taiwanese want China to do so. But do they??

Why do China need Taiwan anyway? China is doing so well in everything, and in the near future will become the world's greatest power. But then, with greater power comes greater responsibility ..

A Chinese diplomat told me that taking Taiwan by force is out of the question.

Taiwan will merge with China soley due to economics - the rising power of china as an industrial nation will lure Taiwan back to the fold.

Hong Kong proved that you can have Communism and capitalism in the same country - if the Chinese growth continues, Taiwan wil want to join and be like Hong Kong.

China declared Taiwan 'casus belli' in 2004. Should not but will reclaim by force.

I don't think that there is any need. Most people that I talked to in Taiwan say that they would like to keep their government (excpet get rid of Chen ShuiBian) but would really like to have better relations with China.
Most of the people that I talked to in China about it said that they are indifferent to it.
Me thinks that China will not do anything more then what they are doing, and Taiwan will improve relations with China once Chen ShuiBian is gone.

No. Taiwan is an independent nation. The Taiwanese people should be the only ones allowed to determine their future.

Look at what happened in Hong Kong after the Chinese took over. Virtually every freedom those people had has disappeared and their leaders are appointed by the warlords in Beijing.

I think the window of opportunity has closed on that. With each passing years the ethnic Chinese in Taiwan see themselves more as a separate people from the Chinese.

hell no ofcoz.....and i dont think china will have that kind of nerve to attack tw.....coz they will lose more...they going to lose all credits they have been build up....and it will give western countries an excuse to sanctionized china....besides....the moment china attacks.....then tw will definitely declare independence....and one thing we all should know....we should not compare tw with hk.....coz tw's influence to the world is far more than the hk.....so if china ever want to unify with tw.....they got to convince the tw citizens and nor pressurise over tw citizens........like i always believe....if china is really having the sincerity to discuss over the tw straits issue....first they have to withdraw those 1000 ballistic missiles aiming at tw.......
