Assuming that there is more to it than chance.

If we assume "spiritual influence" then it would only be logical that you find a place that provides an environment where you can be in tune with your "spirit."

I've been playing with Tarot cards, off and on, for over ten years and they seem to be just as effective no matter what I do.

Here, let me draw one card for you and you can interpret it:

8 of Cups (reversed if you use that method)

Good luck.

You tend to improve with time. Also, finding the right deck is important. This sounds weird....but my second deck really didn't like me. I never got one positive thing out of it. Keeping the right energy in the cards also helps. Positive energy is all that should be around the cards. Often times this means not letting everyone touch them and keeping them in a protective wrapping or case.

Edit: Because tarot cards are really just an extension of something inside of yourself mixed up with some other things they also don't really work unless the practitioner has some feeling towards what they are doing. That's why really only fakes do readings for complete strangers for money. Like praying, the readings work so much better if you do them yourself.

The only factor that makes tarot cards function any better than chance is the skill of the con artist that fleeces their gullible clients.

If there were anything to tarot cards besides a good con, then one the practioners would have collected their $1 million reward/prize from James Randi by now.
He has been offering a prize, for decades, to anyone that could prove any such supernatural claim.
He's still got his money. But, he hasn't given up....he is still let people come to 'prove' (disprove) their special talents.

:-)

The best way to improve in the reading of Tarot cards is to NOT read them.

Knowledge of the cards and experience helps. Also, meditate to open the pathways that enable the reading ability in the first place.

The best way, in my experience, is to read the book that came with your deck and practice. Contrary to logic, reading your own cards doesn't help with practicing because you can't have an objective opinion about your life like you can with someone else.

Good luck!

First you have to find a willing dupe, aka the mark.
Then you take their money in advance.
Then you tell them that the cards are looking good for them, unless they don't come back for more sessions. Also dress your dog up as a devil and tell them that there are evil spirits about, and only you can stop them.

study the cards.. gain an understanding of the process.. clear your mind and allow the cards to move you... be open to allow the answers to come through to you.. read a book about how the cards work together and the total meaning of the symbols and what they represent

it takes some time....it probably takes a lifetime to understand the world and all the things in it...

take a course and use it wisely - it's nothing to play with....
