I am a 23 year old woman from Canada, and to be honest I am taking this information from many sources and personal experiences through the years.

1. I heard that the word Islam means "peace," I think it is a way of life that accompanies a religion, its followers called Muslims.
2. Muhammad is the prophet and spiritual leader of Islam, wrote the Quran? I remember a geography high school teacher once said that coffee in its earliest form was first used by Muhammad to travel the far distances, stay alert, and promote discussion, I thought this was interesting although not really what you're looking for.
3. Not 100% sure but I know that a form of Islam is heavily steeped in the government and politics of Saudi Arabia.
4. Mecca- Is it the travel path that Muhammad made to go to Mecca, like a holy pilgrimage?
5. I do not believe that the Taliban represents Muslims! Many people use all kinds of religions to justify their hunt for power. Once again, I heard that Islam means "peace", that it is a sin and you will go to the Islam version of hell if you kill yourself or someone else. Why would the Quran talk of respect for both genders and then make 50% suffer terribly? It makes no sense, what is scary is that they make the exact same arguments that Christians and other religions do.
6. The day of 9/11 when they began saying the names of suspects, I knew that this would mean terrible things for the average person of Islam. Then the eventual detaining, harassment, and just pure hate proved what my intuition told me that day. People are afraid of what they don't understand, it is easier to make assumptions then make an honest effort to learn.
7. Being a woman who was raised in North America it is hard for me to understand what the average Muslim woman goes through. It was not so long ago however that Christianity restricted many rights on women, and some would argue they still do. A woman should be able to practise her religion the way she wishes, I don't see a hair covering as bad, a full covering bur qua to me is restrictive though. I believe in equal rights and stories I hear about extreme cases being carried out in the name of a religion, it makes me sad. I don't understand the whole situation but no one deserves to live in fear.
8. Men in Islam- My cousin married a man from the middle east and they lived in Texas but had to eventually move. People would say awful things and for some reason assumed that because he was from the middle east he was Muslim. I only know a few men who are Muslim but none of them are radicals or violent. As I hope someone would not see me as a stereotype, I try to instead ask questions and not assume.
9. I think the Danish cartoons were wrong to print those cartoons because I heard (I may be wrong) that it is a major transgression in Islam to create a representation of Muhammad.
10. I was raised Anglican (a form of Christianity) but do not practise it. I am not sure what Christ is in Islam, or what that means, but to me there are some similarities between Muhammad and Jesus. I think they and other religious icons all had basic principles that we should follow no matter where we are from or what language we speak. The meaning gets lost when humanity makes mistakes and believes their way is the only way.

1. Islam is one of the three monotheistic religions claiming to have descended from Abraham (the others being Judaism and Christianity).
2. Mohammed is the man who wrote the Koran (the bible of Islam).
3. Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that follows Islam. It has at least one of the holiest shrines of the religion.
4. Everyone in the world who is Islamic is supposed to turn towards Mecca and pray several times a day. You must turn towards Mecca because you've never supposed to turn your backside towards it.
5. Bin Laden is highly regarded among Muslims because they think he is trying to defend Islam against the imperialist US. He bases his ideas on parts of the Koran which say that a holy war must be waged against unbelievers. What a holy war consists in, whether or not it is violent is subject to much debate. The question of whether or not Bin Laden represents Islam is like the question of whether or not the fundamentalist Christians are the real Christians, or the evangelical ones, or the more liberal ones, or the Catholic ones.
6. I think many people in the world thought it was good for the US to get a small taste of its own medicine (in effect someone bombed a few buildings), because the US has spent many years bombing cities in other countries.
7. Mohammed allowed 4 simultaneous wives for each man, though he himself had I think it was 13 wives, the last one a very young one (and the reason many people think he was a pedophile).
8. Islamic men are supposed to be responsible for their women. That is a part of the religion. Unlike the US, you don't just knock up a girl then run away from your responsibilities.
9. Well, Christianity says that there shall be no graven image of god, and Islam has similar prohibitions. The Danish cartoons were graven images. Secular people cannot always understand how religious people feel when you make fun of their religion. I think that generally the Muslims are a little too sensitive.
10. Christ is not Christ in Islam. Christ means savior. Jesus, however, is highly regarded as a prophet and teacher, along with Mohammed, another prophet and teacher. So, Jesus the man is highly regarded, but he isn't regarded as the Christ (as a risen god). Jesus isn't a god. In Islam, God (Allah) has no sex, Allah isn't a he, she or it. Islam regards Christianity as a polythestic religion (many gods), and condemns it for that, because polytheism is regarded as bad. Chrsitianity is polytheistic, by the way, but not Jesus (the first four gospels). The Christianity we know of today was not founded by Jesus, but by Rome a good 300 years after Jesus's birth.

1- A religion based around the Koran, which was in turn based in large part upon Judaism and written/dictated by Mohammed.
2- Muhmd I'm assuming is an alternate spelling for Mohammed, the prophet who created the religion of Islam.
3- Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of Islam. It's also the home of most of Al Quaida, including most of the terrorists behind 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden.
4- Mecca is the city in which Islam was born. Traditionally, Moslems are to make pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lives if they are capable of doing so.
5- The Taliban are about as much representative of the true spirit of Islam as fundamentalist Christians are of the spirit of Christ... not much. They use the Koran to convince their followers to commit acts which Mohammed would condemn, attacking innocent civilians and their fellow Muslims.
6- Every Muslim I know was at least as horrified by 9/11 as anyone else. There were faithful Muslims in the Towers, just as there were members of every other religion in the world.
7- What a mess. They really don't treat women well, particularly not in the conservative countries.

9- Yes, the Muslims overreacted. There have been plenty of jokes made about Jesus without causing riots in the streets and calls for assassination.
10- He's considered a true prophet, one who presaged the coming of Mohammed who built Islam.

1. Islam is the last perfect religion given by God.
It repairs all corrupted book (Torah and Bible). It's perfect because it is not like a religion. It is a LIFESTYLE. It controls all humanlife. Politics, Sports, entertainment, friendship, all of it. Personally, Islam is a religion (A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship, A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader) like any other religion. Belief is common that Allah/God is ONE. Muhammad is a prophet, messiah, messenger of God. Saudi Arabia is a country with all Muslim's population. Mecca is the holy place, pilgrimage all Muslims are suppose to visit atleast once in lifetime. Bin Laden is a reaction to US act (cruel act I would say). Islam teaches about Jehad, which (A Muslim holy war or spiritual struggle against infidels). Now a learned person acts, takes it as an internal thing and reacting person takes it out on the world. I am not saying here that Bin Laden is right or wrong, US government and Taliban's acts are similar. A Muslim true follower of Islam can not be happy about 9/11. Men and women, are the children of god like any other animal and there are no different rules for any. Dannish cartoons - Yes they over reacted, who knows Muhammad better than me. Christ as per Islam is another messenger, prophet, messiah.

I had the experience of meeting Muhammad Sahab (the prophet), in 1997, where he asked me what I do, appreciated, blessed, showed me the way to a mosque, in Defence colony, Delhi, India and disappeared. This is no fiction. And I am not of any religion. I love all.
