There's a condition known as 'nevrosis'... It's not a big deal nothing to get scared about... just get some rest and make sure to drink plenty of water... it's stress...and or anxiety... try to think of what you've been doing lately... I actually get those every once in a while .. How long has this been bothering you? Comes and goes?? then don't worry
If it's something more serious you'd have some trouble breathing...
Take some tylenol...

Smile and Sexy Ray give good advice...
If you feel it's more than just that, or if it goes on for more than 2-3 days contact your doctor.. Otherwise it will pass... your body is signaling you to get more rest...
But by all means, if you have difficulty breathing, as in you can't take a breath... not just becasue it hurts/ but because your air supply gets blocked, call 911 you might have a heart problem.. Ok? And make sure when you call to tale an aspirin... at least 80 mg, ok?

There are chances that there has been a muscle pull if it is happening at the back.
DId you lift very heavy thing in the last couple of days. or may be have done excessive exercise.
Relax for 3-5 days it should get to normal.

But if you are having pain still you can go for the muscle pain balms to reduce it.

If you are smoking then try to reduce it.

Dont try to sleep on facing your stomach. Try to lay down on back.
Get up slowly and side ways to reduce the pain.

If possible try to do breathing exercise for future benefits once the pains has subsided.

have you had a cough recently? I had a bad cough for about 2 weeks and one day I felt a sharp pain around my rib cage and the doctor said I tore the muscle between my ribs because I coughed too hard and for too long. Maybe this is the case for you but in another muscle!

You need to go see a doctor now! Pain in the chest can be due to excessive gas to serious infections and it needs professional help.

A doctor would advise you a Chest X-Ray and some common blood tests.
