You are very correct: if you are used to eating a lot your stomach stretches , so in the end you need to eat more and more to feel full. But If you start eating less again your stomach will get smaller and you will sooner feel full again. Also you can drink a lot of water to feel full. Besides a stomach operation is always risky and if you continue to eat a lot it will stretch again despite the operation. So if you want to loose weight do it by teaching yourself a different way of eating. Good luck.

I've often thought the same thing! If you are willing to go through all of the pain of surgery and recuperation only to eat less and risk possible infection AND perhaps even death just to be eating less, why not try and shrink your stomach by drinking lots of water and good amounts of fiber and eat less on your own.

I have had an emergency c-section and it ain't no fun to recuperate. 4 years later and I still get occasional pains.

"coz some of the big fat pigs haven't got the will power to do anything except to pay for medical intervention"

Lead Belly: Geeze! Why are you so judgemental. Some of us have thryoid problems!!! I have thyroid cancer, and prior to learning about it, I went ten years of being obese. Then I found out I had the cancer. I lost the weight, then later I had to have radiation.... Since the radiation, I have put back on..

I am far from a lazy person. I could not walk for 6 months. I had to start over and learn to walk again. How dare you judge someone that is overweight??? How dare you!!!!!

I take my cane and hobble every day and make myself walk. I even hobble into the gym now. I am probably the heaviest one in the gym. **** em all who look at me and judge me!!

Having this surgery is not what its cracked up to be. It takes a lot of commitment and will change your life forever. There is no turning back.

People like you make me want to scream. How dare you. I hope you never become ill with Cancer or anything. I am 34. Yep only 34. People have come to me and told me what a lazy person I must be...... ******! This is the hardest thing I have ever dealt with in my life! I wake up in pain 24/7, and get up and push myself, only to have some moron like you come and talk *** to me in front of my children who think the world of me....**** ***!

Your stomach would not shrink by eating less alone you also have to workout your stomach area and watch the portions that you eat (of course still trying to eat healthy) by doing a combination of the two will help to decrease your food intake and make your stomach smaller

diet is not that effective but it works, you just have to wait a long time to see the result. But you can have an operation, wherein your stomach will feel full even in very small amount of food, may be around 2-3 tbsp. And its takes few hours for you to get started eating again. In this procedure, you will not worry to fell hungry, because you will be satisfied in very little amount of food....

Stapling works by making your stomach hold less than normal, so you feel full on less and therefore lose weight. However, you can stretch it again by increasing the amount you eat.

I don't think the stomach will shrink. But I do know that if you eat very much over a long period of time, the stomach adapts and gets bigger.

Yes. I did that when my husband got ill and I lost quite a few lbs. 2 sizes and its still going down. Now, I'm wondering what would happen if I was truly happy again ... better not give my clothes away just yet (^.-)
