You are too preoccupied with what you are doing and are easily distracted.

It's ADHD (Attenion deficit hyperactive disorder) or ADD (Attention deficit disorder). Its just a fancy term saying that you have trouble completely processing tasks. My brother was diagnosed with it, and he does the same things that you say you do. When you think to do something the nerves in your brain get going and connect to other nerves. But the difference in normal brains and my brother's brain is that normally those nerves connect, but his just stop at the first set of nerves. In other words, it only goes halfway through.
you can ask any doctor. This is what they tell me.
you have to be diagonsed and depending on how bad they may give you a prescription or they may just teach you ways to cope with it.

It's normal for a person to be absent-minded, because we keep our minds busy all the time, never stop thinking about the past, the future, but never attend to the present moment.
If you're aware of your habitual way of thinking, you'll improve in time.
Just pay much attention to what you're doing at the present moment. Easy!

Are you on any medication? That might be a side effect.
If you don't take drugs or drink alcohol, then maybe you should see a doctor about that..Or maybe you are 90 years old...but that would make your Dad about 110....so I guess that's not it either.
Seriously, stress could also be a factor.

Sounds like short term memory loss. If it's not a pot smoking thing, then it's something to see a dr. about.

short term memory problems can be caused by being tired and run down. if you've just got a bad memory you can practice remembering things to improve it.
