not where i come from. every holiday and 'first of the month' you know when those welfare bums get 'their' checks, arent really theirs just may tax dollars hard at work. the police department is in full force we call them 'raid weekends' they pull over anyone and everyone for any minor traffic violation (no front tag, didnt signal a right turn, window tent being too dark) just trival stuff they use to be able to really pull anyone over for something. they ask to search your vechile and if you tell them no they call a drug dog and sniff your car. its basically just unreasonable and unjust. they really dont solve crimes or prevent them from happening. just arrest whatever their corrupt mayors and advisors want them to do...

I have one brother-in-law who is a County Sheriff, and one who works for the DEA. Both of them are good, honorable and trustworthy. In the police dept. there is corruption, like everywhere else. There are some that cannot be trusted. It is not the "police in general" that are bad, but a few bad ones make them all look bad. It's not fair to the good ones that really believe that their job is to "protect and serve".
It is a very hard job where they have to deal with the worst that America has to offer every day. Some of them become very jaded because of this. It is an occupational hazard. I would not want the job for anything. My brothers put their lives on the line every day to keep the rest of us safe. Where would we be without all of them?
Like everything else, you have to take the good with the bad. Even priests are not all trustworthy! So, the police are like everything else. Mostly good, some bad. It is better than having no law enforcement at all.

i truly believe that most police go into the profession with high ideals and good intentions. But there are corrupt cops just as there are corrupt preachers. and even good intentioned people can be seduced by a perception of power, if they are weak. add to that police officers are basically government employees, of one division or another...no, i pretty much don't. as a whole. but i applaud the good ones!

Yes I do, work with them on a regular basis, I have been studying criminal justice so maybe biased, but I rely on them to protect me on my job and help me out, they are there when they can be. They have always came through and I have never seen anything questionable from any of the locals of course small area.

I live in Germany, and can tell you that I do trust the Polizei, but also give them respect. They don't hesitate to use force if necessary.
