Whoa. First, every book is manipulated. Don't single out just one. The answer is power, greed or selfishness. Everyone has their own agenda and will of course use a "holy book" to justify that.

First of all. All religions are based on the same principle: Peace, love , and goodwill toward all mankind. Now these books (scriptures), all of them, are interpretations by man of the visions/ insight/ wisdom etc of the 'Higher Power' which imparts this knowledge to them.

Now, religion is a very powerful thing. It affects all of us, devout or atheist. It has since the beginning of rational thought. We need a way to explain apparent injustices. We look for a guiding source. And where do we find it. In the 'good book', of course.

Leaders through history have known this and manipulated these writings to suit there purpose. Every time a new leader pops up who is not happy with this part or that, then he/she makes a little alteration to suit their particular whim. Over 2000 years all those little changes become one big change. Also, during the time of the most drastic changes (before modern times) most people were illiterate except for the elite. The general public only knew what they experienced or were told.

And then there is the matter of translation. One language is not perfectly translated into another.

Misconceptions, deceptions, and those who won't tell.

well, since it was written the torah's been the same. the exact same thing because even one small typo renders the torah unholy and it must be destroyed.
historically anyway, from the earliest torah pieces we have.

who knows what happened before it was written though. it was an oral tradition, and people's memories can change with time.

the talmud is the book that is manipulated, well, mostly added to. its a commentary on the torah. mostly laws and stuff like that. that's changed a lot throughout the years.

That's how Islam is different from all religions. The Quran was never manipulated. Not even once since the some 1400 years ago it was revealed. Every single letter is there. Directly from God himself.

The manipulation of the Quran is in fact forbidden in order to retain the religion.

It is manipulated because it is being read by humans who are imperfect. All holy books are subject to interpretation by humans who are flawed. Only when one truly seeks the truth devoid of any personal interest does he (or she) get close to understanding the pure meaning of the holy. When you seek to know the one who wrote the book, then you will begin to move beyond the realm of manipulation, because the whole essence of holy scriptures is to bring us to a revelation and a knowing of the Author. "You shall seek me and you shall find me when you seek with all your heart"

How do you mean manipulated? There are always going to be people trying to cover their own greed and lies who are in 'power' or 'control' by twisting the truth in many forms. That, in no way, subtracts from the truth, of the 'truth' they are twisting. It will still be the truth... unchanged. So if you are speaking of humans trying to disrupt our [everyone's] perception of the truth, then the point is mute because everyone is guilty... no exceptions.
So... what do you mean by 'manipulated'?
