my daughter was sorta the same, always real tall. she weighed 18 pds when she was 18 months. the doc told us that she was just probably going to be a little girl. she was not a premie either, in fact a few days late. but she only weighed 6 pds. i wouldn't say that it is normal for the majority of kids, but for your baby, it may be the norm, like it is in my daughter. she is 3 now and only weighs 27 pds. although that is not the average, she is normal for her growth and that is what they stay more concerned with. that she follows the same growth pattern. now here is the real question, my five month old weighs 18 and 1/2 pds!! is that normal :) but for real, take it easy, watch the growth patterns and it may just turn out to be the way your child is!

I have a baby that is almost 11mo and weighs 18 pounds 9oz. and she is 29 3/4" long. I wouldn't say she is underweight. When my other daughter was 14mo she weighed 19 pounds 12oz. - but she was also a premie.

Since your child is 14 mos. old, he/she should be visiting a doctor, who will tell you IF your child doesn't weigh enough. If you are feeding your child regularly and whenever she/he is hungry, and he/she is only 18 lbs., weight is probably due to to body structure.

as far as my experience as a mother, your baby's weight is normal..as long as she eats and drinks milk, she's fine...my baby is 16 mos. and weighs 25 pounds/lbs.
