I get indigestion(gas, bloating, severe abdominal pain) after I eat mushrooms. This usually lasts for several hours, even after I've taken an antacid/anti-gas medication. Could this be an allergy or sensitivity? I haven't had an issue until recently. I think I'll avoid them in the future anyway I'm just curious....

_Any_ kind of mushrooms? Or just one kind?

Anyway, it is possible to acquire an allergy, or it is possible that the location that you get the mushrooms from gets them from somewhere where there is polution of some kind that does not go well with you digestive system.

As a non-medical person (and not a great mushroom lover, which made me do some research on mushrooms), that's all I can think of.

Definelty, I always thought food allergies only consisted of sweeling and itching...but there are all sorts of food sensitivities. I found it out because everytime I ate red peppers I could taste it in my mouth for hours and it was kind of metallicy.... another type of food sensitivity. Avoid th emushrooms but maybe in a few months try them again to see if it had passed.

Could be an allergy. Next time take a benedryl before you eat shrooms. IF its an allergy, the benedryl should stop the problem from happening.

Allergies can grow worse over time, so if you are already having reactions to something, it'd be a really good idea to stay away from it.
Today bloating; maybe tomorrow anaphylactic shock!

I've heard of the exact same thing w/ mushrooms. avoid them and see what happens. if you are symptom free for several weeks, try a tiny bit of mushroom and see what happens when you reintroduce it into your diet.

May be! such symptoms can occure if u r allergic. But you don't have to worry if you don't vomit. If u are too curious, just consult a doctor & free up ur mind

it is probably the way they are prepared.
having said that, many people react adversely to eating fungus.
it would be okay to avoid eating them.
