Is it ok for you to eat around other people?

Is it ok for a mother to refuse to feed an infant? (actually - that could be considered child abuse)

Would you want to eat in a restroom stall, or sit there for an extended amount of time so your child could sit on your lap and have, say, a happy meal? (or, for that matter, would you want to be the person waiting to use that toilet while they sat there?

Breasts, while a sexual object, are designed and intended first and formost for the purpose of feeding a baby.

Why is it that a person can walk thru a mall and see Victoria's Secret ads, teen girls in low riders and thongs and cropped tops with their breasts hanging out the bottoms and tops both, String bikini's on the beach, etc, and not bat an eye, because "that's normal", but to see a mother, sitting on a bench, nursing a baby is scandalous??

Grow up.

PS - at 25, you can vote, you can drink, you can get married, have children, serve in the military, vote, pay taxes, own property, have children, be sued, etc. I'm pretty sure all that constitutes being called a woman. If you are over 25, would you have wanted to be called a girl (or a boy) at that age? If you are under it, then that's pretty rich, considering they are older than you. Unless you are a male who thinks of all women under 50 as "girls" who only have breasts for your (and other male) pleasure, and heaven forbid they be for anything else??

Absolutely!! I am a mother of two and am still currently breastfeeding my youngest. I have breastfed in the mall, the museum, the grocery store and anywhere else I might be when it is time to nurse. Not once have I exposed myself to anyone. I personally feel that if a person has a problem with someone breastfeeding in public, it is their problem, not the nursing mother. Think about the not so distant past when babies were breastfed (either by their own mother or a "wet nurse") or they starved as bottle feedings were unheard of. Historically speaking, not breastfeeding is a relatively new thing.

It's the most natural thing in the world. I do think she should be a little discrete, though. Go to a private or secluded corner--NOT a restroom--and throw a receiving blanket over the baby's head and your exposed breast. But it wouldn't bother me if she just whipped it out and started feeding right in the middle of the mall------it's not sexual, it's FEEDING!

P.S. A 25 yr old is a WOMAN, thank you!

Well...it is a natural act. However there are also lots of natural things that I wouldn't want to see walking through the mall or any other public area.
I'm pregnant and I plan on breastfeeding my baby, but only in the privacy of my home....I would be too embaressed to flop my boobie out in the middle of a store, park or whatever. Some people aren't as embaressed about it as I, and they have no problem doing it. I guess it just depends......

Absolutly. The women should be able to sit on a bench in the middle of the mall and breastfeed. No problem. BUT I think out of consideration for others, it is nice to be discreet. Cover yourself with a blanket. We dont want to see your naked breast. But also note that a breastfeeding women does not think of her breasts (while feeding the baby) as a sexual object.

Of course its okay. Why in the world should anyone have to go hide in a corner to do something that our bodies were designed to do? Breasts were NOT made for men to play with!!They were made to provide nourishment for our children. Anyone that has a problem with breastfeeding needs to get a serious wake up call. And even though I wasn't there, I'm willing to bet this woman didn't walk around with her boob just flopped out for everyone to see, did she? Almost all women are discreet when nursing in public, and if its something you don't want to see, DONT LOOK!!!

I think it's fine. Why shouldn't it be? Women weren't given breasts to use a playthings for their husbands or sexual objects...we have breasts to feed our children when they're born. As long as this woman wasn't walking around half naked with her breasts exposed and wearing nothing but a g-string while feeding her baby, I think breastfeeding in public is wonderful. Why should she have to go sneak off to a dark corner to feed her baby? When you go out, do you sit in a remote corner of the restaurant or mall or bathroom to eat YOUR meals?

Of course its OK! There is nothing better than a mother's breast milk for a baby - for both the mother and the baby! Good for the "25 year old girl!"

it is a natural thing, baby's have a right to eat just like everyone else and it isn't right that the mom should have to go hide some wear just to feed her baby. if it bothers you just remember there are 360 degrease in a circle. i see more boobs hanging out of some teenage girls shirts these days than i do on a breast feeding mother.

mother of 2
