I took my kitten to the vet today and he found a flea ( I personally think she picked up there??) But I don't want to risk. He gave me some Frontline spray to spray on her and my other kitten at home, I came home and vacuumed and mopped, washed bedding and blankets....But I have becomed a paranoid freak! I bought some of that Hartz home fogger, but now I have been reading that it kills so I am not so sure i want to use it....should I stop worrying? Or what do I do??

First..get a flea comb. Comb the kittens to see if they have fleas. Keep an eye out for small black droppings. If you see those, then they probably do have fleas. Second..pick up some Hartz 2 in 1 Carpet Powder. (Buy at least 2 cans.) Sprinkle the powder around the house, and let it stand for at least 30 minutes, and then vacuum. Throw away that vacuum bag. In 2 days, sprinkle again...making sure to get under the furniture... vacuum again...and throw away that bag, also. The next time you vacuum, sprinkle a small amount of powder down. You'll have to put a little bit of powder down each time you vacuum. If the kittens can't get under the couch...you can sprinkle the powder underneath it, and just leave it there. Keep checking the kittens with the flea comb. In about a week to 10 days, you should be flea free! Good luck!

First get rid of the hartz, its junk! Their flea chemical should be outlawed, it doesn't work! I use Advantage on my cats and it is wonderful! It is a little expensive, but it works! Frontline is ok too, but I have such consistent excellent results with Advantage I don't need anything else. The cool thing about Advantage is you can buy the larger portions for the largest dog and then divide up the doses to the correct amount for cats and that way it is cheap! The stuff for the dogs and cats is exactly the same, but they give you a lot more for the larger dog size bodies. But you must be careful not to tell the place where you are buying that you are doing this cuz maybe they would not let you buy it then... and you must be able to divide to the correct amounts (within reason) so you do not overdose your animal. I hope you are good in math... Good luck! PS: if you aren't good in math maybe you should just stick to the pre-sized packages.

Get on google and look up flea busters. It is a wonderful powder and works fabulously! The frontline drops you apply to your pet's shoulder blades is excellent as well. When I picked up my oldest cat from the shelter, she was infested bad. The vet told me about frontline and said it would be fine to use the use the drops. She has never had a flea since. My family used flea busters when they had dogs and really never had a flea problem after they used it. I am not sure where to find it now but I know it works and you can find just about anything online. Good luck

Get a small lamp .. a bowl of water and some dish soap .
place the bowl of water on the floor ... drop in some dish soap ... place the small lamp right by the bowl ... turn it on and leave it on all night. In the morning check the bowl to see if any fleas are in the bowl. If their is some fleas then yep do the fogger . My mom did them all the time when we were little for our dogs. Its ok ... just take the cats on a long car ride or somewhere. They will be fine :) . Have a great day and good luck :)

One flea - I wouldn't worry too much. If your cats had fleas, it's easy enough to tell. Just run your had against their fur, you will see either the flea it's self, or flea dust (flea poop) that it leaves behind. It looks like a reddish, coarse powder. If you don't see those things, and you have cleaned everything as well as you say you have, I'd rest easy. Especially if your cats are indoor cats. If they are indoor / outdoor cats, then get a once a month treatment. Revolution is best, as it also treats them for heartworms, for which right now there isn't a cure treatement for cats. If they get heartworms, it is basically a death sentence. I have three indoor/outdoor cats, and use the Revolution once a month and have no flea problems - very good product.

Keep using the frontline as per instructions and if you want to know if she still has any on her coat? It sounds strange but brush her with a headlice comb this pulls out the little nuisances and gives you an idea if the spray is doing its job.

If you flea bomb it could kill your kitten...You do have to leave the house for 2 hrs. but the smell is still in the air and it could affect you kitten...I would give your kitten a bath and then use the flea spray the vet gave you to use...Better safe than sorry...

I used to feed my dog a likkle garlic in his food and he never seemed to attract fleas. I don't know if this works for cats. whatever you do, make sure it is safe for cats, as I don't know much about cats, but have heard that a lot of the products you can use safely on dogs are not too good for cats as they lick themselves a lot and often.
Good Luck!
