There are alot of people posting genuine questions about the situation in the Middle East, and I applaud you for seeking answers. However, I see so many ignorant postings asking about the middle east and judging the religion and culture. Why doesn't anyone care about our OWN culture?
Why don't you ask about the KKK that still continues to spread hate?
Why don't you ask about the pedophiles that are destroying our children?
Why don't you ask about the polygamy that is going on in our own country?
What about the youths that are getting involved with gangs, drugs and sex?
Why are there so many rapes in this county? (Every 2 minutes, a woman is sexually assaulted in the US)
What about teen age mothers?
How about STDs?
Corruption in the law, government and media?
Racism?
People, I'm just scratching the surface here.
I'm proud to be an American, and don't misunderstand me. I just wish people would stop judging other cultures and start checking out our own back yards.

LOL that's funny, because I'm studying to become a lawyer. My rant was more on the issue of focusing on ourselves than someone else.

Teenage mothers. The high school down the street from me in Houston has 150 pregnant girls. 90% of these girls second language is English. They are picked up individually, by bus, EVERY DAY, and taken to school, to the doctor, given parenting classes, free diapers, food, help finding money to support them, etc... The only thing that pisses me off about this is the fact that if they kill someone in a car accident, or get a DWI, or are liable for some misc incident, they are not liable because the law has no way of finding them or making them accountable

The culture in America is very diverse. The only "culture" that you can say is truly "American" would be the American Indian culture. America is a "melting pot" and it doesn't really have a culture of it's own. It is made up of many cultures. That cultural diversity is one of the things that makes America great. All of the "big problems" in America are everywhere in the world. If you don't believe this, just watch the national news! And as far as the corruption in the government goes, where in the world is there no corruption in government? Nowhere! In many countries it is much worse than it is here, and it goes totally unchecked. As bad as some situations are, I would still rather live here than anywhere else in the world, because we also have the freedom of speech to say the kind of things that you have without fear of prosecution...or worse! We have civil liberties and freedom of religion. We are not perfect, and I have not heard anyone say that we are...but neither is anyone else! Do you think that we are the only nation with STD's and teenage pregnancy?
The reason that some people have issues with other nations may be because it is easier to see somebody else's problem than your own. Or it may just be that the situation elsewhere makes ours look like kindergarten! It may just be a matter of degree.
If it is that important to you, then you should see about becoming a lawyer or a judge or a congressman. Exercise your right to vote. Become a volunteer worker at a homeless women's shelter. Do something to make a difference. Work with troubled teens. And don't worry about the KKK, they are their own worst enemy.

One reason could be that the average American has become utterly self centered and materialistic, pleasure loving and proud. He explores every strange and new thing and condone every form of filth and vulgarity. Americans are the ones who abuse their freedom to the utmost. They can not think beyond themselves. They don't mind suppressing others for their own leisurely existence. That's the reason America is on the way to ruin. Unless the nation turns back to God and straighten up things it will be inviting disaster upon itself. God bless America!

Because when "their" culture starts to try to change ours, it's hammer time.
But yeah, we do have lots of problems. And unfortunately, they do present some strong points when they talk about us being evil. You listed a number of reasons in your rant.
But it gives no one the right to come over and try to kill us for it.
What I don't understand is why no one talks about the fact that "they" continue to sell black Africans into slavery, even today.

Well, all of these issues are in YA ... people are working on them.
I think you're stuck in a segway in YA and not noticing stuff you want to address, but you yourself haven't sought. Explore, you'll be surprised.

You will always get ignorant people who base their beliefs simply on their feeling not on educated facts.
