I aggree with real, the flyback is over driving the screen, you could also be suffering from a weak and failing Horizintal Output Transistor or the Flyback is shorting out and the power supply is shuting down to prevent further damage. DO NOT continue to watch this unit, it will only further the damage. there is no need to replace the crt socket.

hi,these are only possible troubles of your tv. 1)your tv goes on and off because of the cold solders on its circuit board.every time you wacth your tv.it becomes warm.the longer you view warmer it gets.since soldering leads have a low melting point.the solder around the board becomes a bit maleable enough to loosen parts of your tv.mostly on the regulator section or power supply. or around the plyback.check coldsolders and resolder them. these maybe the cause your tv goes on and off. 2) at the back of the picture tube is a circuitboard called CRT in these board youll find the crt socket reprlace it and that will take care of the color reduction you mentioned.
3) the horizotal lines like excise book page is cause by improper voltage on the screen grid.the voltage in that section must be precise or exact .on the back of the plyback youll find two knobs mentions: focus and screen.
there you can adjust the screen while facing the tv on a mirror.
these steps may only be performed by a qualified service personel. remember that a slight mistake or calculations in soldering and servicing may worsen the damage of your tv.

Tagga61 is essentially correct except for extreme optimism in replacing crt neck board to correct colour problem as that fault could be due to a miriad of faults
