What do you guy feel about Christians getting tatoos? Lets say that they have tatoos already from before they were saved, and now they want to get tatoos that clearly state the change in their life.
This has been a pretty split discution, when I have asked my friends, so I would like to hear what you guys think.

I putting this question out for the sake of the allowing people to air their opinions on the subject. I have many tats already, and many that give glory and honor to my Lord and God.

I don't see a problem with getting tattoos, so long as they are decent and not offensive in any way.

The Good Lord hasn't said anything about tattoos that I know of. It doesn't come under the heading of destroying your body or anything, its just "branding" it. I'm a Christian, have been all my life, and I have a couple of them. Nothing big or ostentatious, just neat little ones tucked away for my own amusement. However, if you want to advertise your faith there are better ways to do it than "branding".....one can definitely have too many tattoos, Christian or not it doesn't matter. But do you really want to look like the Illustrated Man?
Maybe you could have the existing tattoos re-designed? They can pretty much completely cover those with new designs that could reflect your newly found faith.
Welcome to the Flock!

From a Mormon point of view, I know we are discouraged from getting tattoos. We have also been told by our prophet and president of the Church not to pierce our ears more than once (for women only - no earrings for men). We consider the human body to be a temple. There is a huge range of Christian art out there, however, and I would not mind seeing more of those awesome designs on T-shirts instead of people - in other words, I don't have anything against the designs being used but would prefer they be used in a different manner than on people's skin. I lean more towards Thomas Kincaid, Del Parson, Greg Olsen, etc. Have a happy day!

Leviticus 19:28 (Amplified) which says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord."
Deuteronomy 14:1(Amplified): "Ye are the sons of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead."
1 Corinthians 6:19-20: (Amplified) "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
Not a Christian, but thought you would want the scriptures...
On a personal note, I was under the impression that Christians were supposed to feed the hungry and clothe the poor. I wonder how many children in 3rd world countries would live another week just off of the money you want to spend on tattoos...

I have body piercing and my church accepts that. One of my friends has a lot of tats that are demonic and he got saved and goes to the same church. They accept him. I do want to get a tat that has something to do with my faith. My pastor has a tat also, but it is covered at service. He lets it show at fellowships.

I am a Christian and I have a tattoo. I also have plans for at least one and probably two more. I have a pig on my ankle (have collected them since I was 15 and 1st "love" raised pig for AG class and he named it for me 'cuz it was going to be his "prize pig" - it didn't win and became bacon shortly thereafter) and would like to have something done with my children's names and something to show my TEXAS pride. I see absolutely nothing wrong with having tattoos as long as they are not offensive.

Does it Honor God? If one has to even ask that might reveal a thing or 2.

I have tattoos from before I was saved.
This bothered me for a while after I was saved and I wanted to get mine removed. I prayed about it and found peace in leaving them there. My suggestion is pray about it.

Tat's have no reflection of what is in your heart. God is who you need to answer to not your neighbor or friend or priest. If your heart is in the right place you are all good!!
